Record Collector 14th Apr 2024		a few catch up tracks that were released six months previously when this albums was issued in November 1973

My typing is sometimes afflicted by what I term "keyboard gremlins"! They jump in every so often and cause havoc with what I'm trying to type on my keyboard. If I had a gun.....



Record Collector 9th Jan 2015		actually it was three 20 Happening Hits volume three released in march 1973 followed by Super Bad July and Rock Explosion November so it would make a great festive season present



Neil Forbes 9th Jan 2015		I think Majestic used to only put out one LP per year until about 1969, then we started seeing two or three in the same year. Super Bad, Rock Explosion and one other during 1973, at my guess.

Neil Forbes 9th Jan 2015		I don't know. I must've been hiding under a rock or something but these later K-Tel ads from the 70s don't ring any bells with me. I can remember(vaguely) earlier ads for 24 Solid Hits and 20 Power Hits, plus promos for their Country Greats, but they go back to 1969/70. I can't remember NBN running any album promos for K-Tel after 1972 or so... or maybe I've just blocked them out of my mind.

Neil Forbes 9th Jan 2015		I'll ask the moderator to make the correction as my own attempt failed. The typo I can only attribute to "keyboard gremlins"! As for the track itself, surprisingly it's quite a good rendition, even surpasses the original Robin Luke version of 15 years earlier(1958). So I don't mind it at all!

Neil Forbes 8th Jan 2015		Yes, but not the Australian Super Bad compilation, I'm fairly sure of that much. And as you say, R.C., the issue of Rock Explosion is around November, 1973, so yes, it could well be the last under the Majestic brand.

Neil Forbes 8th Jan 2015		You've picked a song I particularly liked as well. I think this was John J. Francis's only big hit. He recorded for RCA in the late 60s as part of a duo or trio, The John Francis collexion(spelled deliberately with an 'X') but had no success.

For me it's Free Electric Band, Swamp Witch, Cover Of Rolling Stone, Venus and Play Mumma, Sing Me A Song. The last-named was written and recorded by a fellow who hails from the Lake MacQuarie region, just south of Newcastle, NSW.

Neil Forbes 8th Jan 2015		Took me three goes to get the back cover the right geometric size and file size in megabytes(whew!). Sorry' bout the condition of the back cover, a much-used album! Also there's an ever-so-slight discolouration on the Side B label. What do you make of this one, Record Collector? Have you a copy tucked away down there in your vault?
