Originally issued in Monaural only.
No date given on the labels. However, 1961 is printed at the bottom left of the rear of the cover. The LP is commonly believed to have been released in June 1962.

"TM224" on (white) labels, "TM-224" on sleeve.
Labels are white with dark blue print on the oceans of the globe and centre of the record on the logo The company address: 2648 W. Grand Boulevard, Detroit 8, Michigan appears at the bottom of the labels.

Released with two different front covers:
"Tamla Special no. 1" (first cover) -- "Tamla / Motown Special No. 1" (second cover). The title on the record labels remained unchanged and read "Tamla Special no. 1" throughout.

The track listing above is as appears on the LP labels, so there are inconsistencies with how the artists' names and song titles appeared when originally released on 45.

PhilMH 31st Mar 2016		The early 1980's reissue (Motown 5274ML) says "Originally released 6/12/61". That reissue somehow substituted Mary Wells' version of "Shop Around" for the Miracles', a mistake that was repeated on the UK Hallmark CD reissue a few years ago, because that was dubbed from the 80's LP!
