The track listed as "Mama Done Told Me" and released on the UK edition of "From The Beginning" [TML11031) is by Herman Willis and is called "Come On". This track (and two others by Willis) are in the Motown Vaults but are not actually owned by Motown - though I think Motown owns the tape they were recorded on. It looks like the engineer just sent the wrong tape to the UK, and as no-one there had ever heard it, or the Miracles track, it didn't get flagged and was released. Doesn't mean it was a Motown recording, though, and even if it was, it doesn't mean Willis got a contract.
I've pondered about track B3 on this album for decades. I've never seen a definitive answer to what this track is. It's certainly not Smokey on lead, but the voice sounds a bit like Bobby Rogers. The words seem to start as 'We're gonna have a whole lot of fun, We're gonna dance until the break of dawn, etc'. Further in 'Rockin' and Rollin' and the words 'Mama done told me' seem to be sung. But this is definitely not the 'Mama Done Told Me' song from the original US single or US album 'From the Begining'. Whether this is the Miracles or another act, we'll never know. I wonder if Smokey could shed some light on it, if he would ever be asked. So where did EMI get this track?
B3 on this English version of "The Miracles From The Beginning" doesn't have the the track that's on End 1016 (or the US version). Instead, a mystery track has been substituted (well described in the American version of the album). Its an upbeat vocal group recording from the same period, I guess., perhaps having a connection to the Miracles, perhaps not
