TopPopper 17th Jan 2015		I think they're finally folded. I also think the latter-day Pickwick was a new company trading off the old brand, but I don't know the ins and outs. Pickwick of old were definitely going in the 1980s.

Neil Forbes 17th Jan 2015		R.C.: "I didn't know Pickwick was still around in 1982!" You'd be surprised, R.C. I have a number of compact disc albums issued by Pickwick, featuring The Bee Gees(basically their Best Of... Vol.2 repackaged as "Smash Hits"), Cat Stevens(World Of.. repackaged simply as "Cat Stevens") A couple of Dr. Hook & Medicine Show compilations(got to find one I've misplaced somewhere), Demis Roussos and one or two others I may have picked up here or there. Yep, Pickwick were still active right up to the early 2000's and my still be active today.

Look anywhere you like on this album and you'll only find the Tamla/Motown "portrait" trademark on the top-right corner of the front cover. You don't see the Pickwick brand ANYWHERE!, Not on the cover - fron or back, and not even on the labels - What gives?



TopPopper 17th Jan 2015		It's all the more curious since the sleeve notes mention this clearly in paragraph 2. I'm guessing it was a blunder rather than a deliberate move. After all, by the time this LP was released the group had changed line-ups a couple more times (Paul Williams died in the 1970s, while Eddie Kendricks went solo) so it's not as if they selected a modern photo.

Either that or someone at Pickwick, totally ignorant of the era he, or she is compiling an album for, thus knowing zero, zip, zilch about the songs or the artists/groups featured.



RogerFoster 16th Jan 2015		Keen TEMPTATIONS fans will cringe when they notice that the tracks on this collection are all from the 1965-1966 era whereas the picture on the sleeve is the lineup from the 1968-71 period (including DENNIS EDWARDS rather than DAVID RUFFIN).
