Released the same year I saw him bottled off stage after coming on nearly two hours late in Brisbane on his first tour of Australia. The bottles thrown were mostly empty Whiskey bottles and due to Billy's lateness the crowd was well pished before he hit the stage. During the show Billy vowed never to return to Brisbane but he eventually did some twenty or so years later. From memory not only was he late on stage he too was a bit pished and a little out of sorts. He was also most likely unaware that Brisbane had a huge contingent of Scoretish migrants that worshiped him and had all his albums up to that point in his career. The fact that he had no new material and the audience, by this stage also well pished, were loudly pre-empting the punchlines to his routine made Billy lose his nerve after about twenty minutes. Things got worse, bottles were thrown, the crowd became violent and after a scuffle Billy disappeared off stage. To his credit he did come back on to try and tame the now rampant audience but this time in his street clothes, not the customary stage get up of banana boots and black leotard of the time and he played a few songs in an attempt to appease the crowd or bore them enough to want to go home. The show then limped to close that pleased no-one.
From accounts I've read, Billy has a somewhat hagiographical memory of this gig and no wonder it would have been a nightmare as a performer. My memory isn't perfect either but I was in the front row at this particular gig and that is what I saw. A notable but disappointing gig for everyone that was there.

Another scraggy cover - I'll delete my image if and when it gets upgraded to a better one.
