Notes

a) HS-1536-3 / W4RS-5200.
b) HS-1537-3 / W4RS-5201.

First issued with yellow dual globe labels.
"S 290" / "TS 290" on labels, "TS290" on sleeve.
Tracklist on back sleeve lists side 1 tracks as side 2.

Soon after the album was released a second cover was produced. The new version carried the same group photograph on the front, but enlarged to twice the size of the original and some other minor graphic adjustments. These were an increase in font size of the album title and a change in colour from red to purple of "Special Occasion" and the tracks highlighted beneath the photograph. The Tamla Box logo and album catalogue number were moved from beneath the "Stereo" on the top left to the top right The catalogue no. TS290 was repeated immediately below "Stereo" so that it now appears twice on the front cover.

The rear cover is unchanged and credits the black and white photographs of the individual members of The Miracles as by Motown GA - P. Bass.
The record sleeve was filed for copyright on August 23, 1968.

No production credits appear on the cover, but the Stereo Commercial labels credit the production to "Smokey".

This may have been the last Tamla album to have had a commercial yellow label Monaural release (TM-290), as well as a white label DJ version.

Er . . . {Images #810788 & 810789} was actually a Columbia, likely pressed in Terre Haute, IN but with Pitman, NJ typesetting. And for my purposes, that's a very good thing, as this like regular copies with the newer label design has RCA-cut lacquers.

Not all pressings had the RCA matrix number order inversion as on the Rockaway, NJ-pressed {Images #714450 & 714451}; RCA's Hollywood plant, or more accurately the Bert-Co printing concern, got the order correct (W4RS-5200 on Side 1, W4RS-5201 on Side 2); as did the Indianapolis, IN plant.

(Info moved to notes / mod edit).

Both my Stereo releases have the Tamla "Two Globes" logo label and have the RCA Matrix nos. incorrectly printed on both sides of the labels:

Side 1: W4RS- 5201, but with W4RS-5200 stamped in the vinyl run-out and
Side 2: W4RS-5200 with W4RS-5201 stamped in the vinyl run-out
