I think Sunset releases didn't start until 1975. First issues had the standard (for UA) white sleeve with no centre hole or poly-lining.

Can someone tell me what the inner sleeve was like for the 1971 pressing, i have a mint copy with Lberty/Sunset inner bag, one side of the bag lists full price LPs from United Artists and the other lists Sunset low price LPs. I could upload images of the inner sleeve if it's relevant.

My near MINT copy of this album A1U B1U has a small burgundy sticker on the rear of the sleeve which says Also available on cassette and 8 track cartridge.

Added images of the Log books.
Printed on low quality paper with a brownish tinge, 203mm X 274mm.
There were at least 2 printings of the black Log with one on better quality, whiter paper but with lower definition.

Re the "Made in Italy" copy. It may have been made in the UK to export to Italy before UA set up shop there.
See here for another discussion.

Sleeve on image is the first version of the UK gimmick sleeve, as it is "E. J. Day Group".
Later pressings had a little less print quality, and was recognised by the "Gerrard & Lofthouse" name - still zig zag opening though.

Just found a 1st press A1U / B1U, in near mint condition, both sleeve, disc and log is faultless.

Thanks for that. I have gathered 4 or 5 copies of the Neutrons LP in a search for a decent copy. Terrible. CBS seemed to manage with Lone Star though.

Regretfully, I cannot say I noticed any Italian pressings for this release, it was all sell, sell, sell......

During my time at UA I didn't really pay a lot of attention to various pressings by any rostered artists, there just wasn't the time available, although from time to time staff members at some shops would point out to me little differences they had observed.

Mostly as I recall they were from Harlequin Records central London branches, where some very knowledgeable people (obviously vinyl enthusiasts) worked for that company, at that time 1974/75 owned by one Laurie Kreiger, who also had his son Paul Krieger at the helm.

I do remember one thing about UAG 29202, because of the intricacy of the die-cut sleeve, it was very easily torn, so many times I had to reject a sale because of sleeve damage....very frustrating. I carried stock aboard my van, and damage could occur to sleeves, due to being aboard for a while, accidental damage, or constantly moving the catalogued stock about as the van was restocked.......
S**T happens......

I did take to carrying spare sleeves when and where I could, and also does anybody recall those "Silver Foil" sleeves put out by UA back then "The Neutrons, Bobby Womack, et cetera". The movement in the van being driven about would cause the foil sleeves to abrade each other whilst racked, not a pretty look, and of course no use to the record shop, who wanted pristine product.

I've seen a few United Artists releases with Made in Italy on them. I think they are Italian but were imported to the UK, maybe to cover the lack of availability?
Yankeedisc might know more.

Hawkmarty, can you shed any light on a pressing of this album?
I have a 3rd pressing matrix A1U B4U, but on the label it states (Manufactured in Italy) printed above the catalogue number at about 2 oclock., yet to find a A1U B1U pressing.

 More info:
The sleeve implies a title of "X In Search Of Space".
The first issue has A-1U & B-1U matrix numbers and label rim text "MANUFACTURED IN ENGLAND. A PRODUCT OF LIBERTY-UNITED ARTISTS RECORDS LTD."
All tracks, credits and times roll over onto a second line apart from "Adjust Me" where all information is on a single line.
The next pressing has A-1U & B-2U matrix numbers and label rim text "MANUFACTURED IN ENGLAND. A PRODUCT OF LIBERTY-UNITED ARTISTS RECORDS LTD." Side 2 also has "RAY" hand scratched.
All tracks, credits and times roll over onto a second line apart from "Adjust Me" where all information is on a single line.
The next pressing has A-1U & B-4U matrix numbers and label rim text "MANUFACTURED IN ENGLAND. A PRODUCT OF LIBERTY-UNITED ARTISTS RECORDS LTD."
All tracks, writing credits and times are in a smaller font and on a single line with the times in lighter font.
The "United Artists" and "Blue Mountain Music" copyrights are in a lighter font and on another line apart from "Adjust Me" where all information is on a single line.
In the production credit "HAWKWIND" and "GEORGE CHKIANTZ" are now capitalised.
I do not know if this was released with a B-3U Side 2.
Also issued in 1977 initially in the fold out sleeve then a single sleeve with no Log booklet, with label rim text "MANUFACTURED IN ENGLAND. A PRODUCT OF UNITED ARTISTS RECORDS LTD" and with the ® after the UA logo.
Then issued in 1981 as Liberty LBG 29202.
