This disc of 33.33 rpm concerns a musical adaptation of a short story that is called The Gift Of The Magi of which a young married couple find a way to secretly exchange Christmas gifts with one another despite the scarcity of funds that this couple has. Even though both the husband and wife were disapointed that the gifts that they recieved had rendered useless, they were still happy simply because these gifts represent the eternal love that they have for one another.

The moral is that these mutually sacrificial gifts were compared to those of the biblical Magi simply because i re Magi, also known as the Three Wise Men, were the ones who invented the art of giving Christmas presents. Accordingly, these men rendered gifts to the newborn baby Jesus who slept in the manger.

The music of this disc was taken directly from the gift of the magi that was broadcast by means of the CBS television network 9 December 1958. Finally, Richard Adler had composed the music and lyrics, whereas Eli Wallach did the narration.
