Vinyl Album
Notes This disc of 33.33 rpm is subtitled "Authentic Field Recordings Of Negro Folk Music" and was issued with booklet that contained a transcription of this record of which Mr. Lomax recorded in 1942 when he took a field trip to Mississippi. Alan Lomax was most certainly a pioneer who produced the Folksong '59 concert at Carnegie Hall due to the fact that this was the first time ever that bluegrass musicians, gospel singers, blues and rock and roll groups played at this concert. Additonally, after Lomax notified the audience that they need forget their bigotry and listen to rock and roll music, the audience members booed. However, after the concert was over, most of the audience members wanted to see concerts of this type occur more frequently. Images
