From R.C., re: Port Stephens FM - "radio boot camp" Yep! Just about hit the nail on the head there, R.C. Quite an accurate description. And you know the saddest thing about it, if you're unjustly treated by the committee of PSFM or any other community radio station, there's no avenue of redress because the A.C.M.A.(Australian Communications & Media Authority) won't do a bloody thing to help you!

Actually neil I had few contacts presenters act as flies on the wall no longer working there described it as a radio boot camp

Have you had any direct experience of Port Stephens FM in say, the last decade? I still have a few friends there, they're just "keeping their heads down and doing their shows as best they can, considering the interference they have to put up with from a committee of bullies!

I have retired from community radio to more of a community radio critic as star rating example three stars or four and so on some of the are very good they stay in their limits serving the community of their distric

I have to agree, R.C. Though I never actually heard Ward Austin, I was familiar with his ridiculous, cringe-worthy catchphrase: "Rickapooney and Fandoogley"(Isn't that just like fingers down a blackboard?). I think the DJs of the time were heavily influenced by American DJs(they may have heard them on tape). The absolute WORST example is Wolfman Jack!
Yes, thankfully our radio presenters HAVE toned down their presentation styles, to be plainer, simpler and more straight-forward, influenced by community radio, perhaps! Could'nt think of a better example!, But R.C., I ask again, are you still doing any radio sessions?

Funny you Should say that I was listening a old broadcast of 3UZ Stan "the man" Rolf doing a top forty countdown from October 1970 I was thinking when I was listening to it what on earth was this person on being very hyped up but thankfully DJs started to tone down once the decade progressed. Through the years

R.C., are you still active as a radio presenter? In other words, are you still radio-active?(ha-ha)

Another one Rangers Waltz by The Mum And Dads strange though as I have that album there's no stereo mix my apologies for those may have a love hate relationship with the song it's one of those treasured records I love to play on radio as a filler before the news

From R.C.: "A4 you would think they picked Wayne Newtons version" - They might not have been able to obtain the rights from RCA in the USA(Newton signed to them after a stint at MGM after leaving EMI's Capitol subsidiary).

Phil, I feel a bit of deja-vu here, I've had this conversation once before on 45Cat. For a label originating in Australia to have any REAL presence in Britain or anywhere else for that matter, its TRADEMARK should BE SEEN on the label of discs made in that territory! It's JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH to be merely credited on the bottom of another company's label. ONJ was signed to PYE INTERNATIONAL, her records should've appeared here on Astor. then EMI when she joined them in 1974/5 then MCA in the early 1980s. For Festival to be truly INTERNATIONAL, they needed to have THEIR VERY OWN office, studios and processing facilities in those other markets.

I wouldn't mind finding the single of Morning Of The Earth! I feel a bit short-changed on learning the LP track had been edited down(boo-hoo, sob, sob, wwwwaaaagggghhhh!).

But Neil, Livvy was signed to an Australian company - whether released on Pye International, EMI, or Uni/MCA, the recordings were made by Festival International, and released here on Festival's Interfusion label.

The label for Morning Of The Earth in the YT clip says 5.20(5 minutes, 20 seconds) the track actually clocks at 5.02(1 second of silence right at the end stretches it to 5.03 but the version at B9 on this LP clocks in at 3.27(and that's after I trimmed the waste while copying to MP3 file).(had to correct the track number - keyboard gremlins got me again!)

Well, R.C., for a start, she ain't "Our" Olivia! She NEVER recorded here! She spent SOME of her childhood here, she was in Newcastle for a very short time while her father was at the University. but her recording career started at PYE International, then moved to EMI about 1975, then she moved to America and recorded for MCA. SHE NEVER ONCE set foot in any Australian studio(except perhaps for a visit). As for A1 getting you singing, at least you don't have Tomjonesitis!

Sadly, the Olivia Neutron-Bomb .. er, Newton-John track jumps in a few places but I have that track on another LP that I can use as a substitute.

Hi, R.C.! Apollo 100's "Joy" would've been a far better track than that Kamahl(why? people are so unkind!) track, but then ANY track would be better!

b9 very hypnotic but a classic that opener of the big wave scene from the movie fantastic

You would think they would include Apollo 100's Joy on the album

Sorry about the slight stain at bottom-left of rear cover. That's how it was when I got it. As I said in the notes, I bought this LP to get hold of Tr.B9(a very friendly track, benign - get it?). Barring Tr.B5, which I could've done without, the rest were just extra goodies.
