Notes

With the exception of the tune Ting-A-Ling, this compilation contains all the songs that were previously issued in 1958 by means of the That'll Be The Day disc, courtesy of the Decca Record Company. The four tracks of this Vocalion disc that were recorded under Buddy Holly and the Three Tunes were Rock Around With Ollie Vee, Girl On My Mind, That'll Be The Day and I'm Changing All Those Changes.

Though the "stereo" counterpart, which was Vocalion VL-73811 was concurrently issued, the tunes were electronically simulated for stereo due to the fact that no stereofonical recordings were ever made. These tracks were recorded in Nashville in 1956 at the barn of Owen Bradley, who had produced them under the direction of the Decca Record Company. Accordingly, six tunes, which were issued by means of three Decca discs of 45 rpm, had NOT achieved any success, so Decca did NOT renew their recording contract.

Afterward, Mr. Holly and his newly formed Crickets group had secured a recording contract in 1957 with Norman Petty, who owned the Petty Recording Studio, where Mr. Holly had re-recorded That'll Be The Day, which had nationally achieved the # 1 position in both the USA and the United Kingdom. Later, Decca had issued the 1956 recording as a disc of 45 rpm, which had still NOT gained any prosperity despite the success of the re-recorded Brunswick tune.

In conclusion, all the Buddy Holly tunes that were recorded and produced by Owen Bradley in Nashville and issued on two compilations in 1958 and 1967 have NEVER achieved any success.
