Al stayed with me when he came to London to try and get a record deal which became this album. We used to sit and chat into the night and I have a tape of him singing from one of those nights. A track from that recording (Butcher's Knife) is on the CD Down River Recordings Live Volume 1. I have other recordings of Al going back to the mid-1960s.
Hi @Gian-paolo - a couple of tracks were issued on the All My Friends Are Back Again 2-CD set, though I don't have a copy so can't read the sleeve notes to work out which.
More have recently been released on the Something Inside of Me box set on Wienerworld, which was compiled by Pete Moody and also has otherwise previously unreleased Matchbox/Saydisc-era tracks by Dave Kelly and Simon & Steve.
Aha, Graham Smith from Canton Trig (later in the Dragons with Huw Gower and the Fans on Fried Egg).
Pete Moody ran the semi-legendary Sunflower label. He has LOTS of unreleased recordings of Al Jones (and Lackey and Sweeney), many of which were planned for a Sunflower LP, to have been titled 'Shape Like a Frog', proposed catalogue number ET-101, to have been issued via Saydisc.
