Warner Bros. had much success with comedians such as Bob Newhart and Bill Cosby, but I never heard of this guy. He combined comedy with sound effects. Many short tracks on each side.

edlongus SUBS 22nd Mar 2023
| | Label variant scans added. Yes, one Warner Bros. logo is yellow and the other is orange on my copy!! Release month also added, based on this album being reviewed on Page 31 of the 29 May 1961 issue of Billboard Magazine. Their review only mentions the Mono catalog number, though this was also released in Stereo.
What I find really interesting from that era is how back covers would advertise albums from artists on other non-related labels!!?? In the lower-right corner, this cover mentions Nichols and May on Mercury, Jonathan Winters on Verve, Warner Bros.' own Bob Newhart (why in 3rd place?!?) and (not seen on the copy here), "Kick Thy Own Self" by Dave Gardner on RCA Victor. |

Break-In Master 10th Nov 2017
| | He collects sound effects then builds a funny out-of-context scenario around each one, usually making the sound effect the punch line to the joke. In effect, they are technically break-ins, because the sounds "break-into" the speaking portion. He and his tape recorder perform in front of a live audience.
The entire album is just over 19:00 long! |
