This was all fun for one summer (or whatever the season might have been....), all these ....billyisms left me cold really fast, preferred the different flavours offered by all those ...delias :-))
But some great originals on this one here!
Psychotic! The history and birth of Psychobilly all on one record. The first side focuses on some crazy weird ass 45's from the heady days of rock 'n' roll (that's the 50's and 60's). These are all great or at least interesting. What was not such a good idea was tacking The Meteors mediocre live rendition of "My Daddy Is A Vampire" onto the end of this side. The band redeems themselves with the stonking "Radioactive Kid "on side two but another 50's or 60's oddity would have been a better end to side one. Side two features a selection of the best psychobilly acts of the 80's and is all top drawer except for poor choice of the Gun Club song. Don't get me wrong the Gun Club are one of my favourite bands but I think anything else off the "Fire Of Love" album would have been a better choice "Black Train " would be my pick. Overall though a great record that still comes out regularly for a spin.
