embassy's simultaneous soundalike cover singles were sold through all branches of f. w. woolworth & co. ltd. and produced by levy's music company whose main label was oriole, q.v, but whose most profitable business was pressing records for the major record companies when sales, and hence demand for a single outstripped their in-house capacity to keep up.
cbs uk was created by the purchase of the entire levy music business, pressing plants, labels and all, by cbs inc. - so, eventually, merkin columbia (& later, sony) inherited the embassy label...
