According to the sleeve notes:
Recorded in the summer of 1957, for Studs Terkel's Jazz Almanac programme broadcast on WFMT radio station in Chicago. Recorded in the early hours of the morning, it was broadcast in full (one and a half hours) on the following evening. This disc is a shortened version.

The tracks listed are not distinct separate tracks like a normal LP, but fade outs/fade ins and include Studs Terkel talking with the artists.
