Gunter Gabriel - Biography

Gunter Gabriel, real Name Guenther Caspelherr, was Born in Bünde Westfalen, Western-Germany, in June the 11th 1942. Gabriel is a German Singer, Songwriter, Composer, Lyricist and TV Host. He grew up in bad Family-circumstances. His Mother died, when Guenther was four years old. As a Young man he left School and he was a Jack of all trades in various small Jobs, just to earn some Money for the Family. Later he worked as a DJ and he developed his ability to write Songs. So, that was the first contact with the Media-Business. In the early 1970s he Wrote Songs for Rex Gildo, Juliane Werding or Frank Zander (other Germany Pop-Music-Artists of the Seventies). He also got his own record-contract with the German record-company Hansa-Records. He Wrote a german Version of Johnny Cashs Wanted Man as Ich werd gesucht in Bremerhaven, but without Cashs permission. His record-company had a departement in Nashville, so Johnny Cash got in contact with Gabriels cover-Version. So they got in contact, and Gunter Gabriel visited Johnny Cash in his home in Hendersonville. In the early 1980 Gunter Gabriel got massive economical Problems and he broke. He lost all his Money and he became an alcoholic. In 2003 Gabriel got in contact with Johnny Cash son John Carter-Cash, who produced a record with him. Back in Germany in a German Talk-Show Gunter Gabriel made his live-saving offer to all TV-Viewers. I will Play a personal concert in your living-room for 1000Euro. Hundreds of incoming phonecalls during the TV-Show are the result, and of course he could pay all his depts. In 2010 he got the Major role in the Musical Hello I´m Johnny Cash. So, Johnny Cash saved Gunter Gabriels life.
