Harry Arnold - Biography

Harry Arnold Persson was a Swedish jazz saxophonist and bandleader who conducted his first big band in 1942 when he played the saxophone. A short time later, Persson stopped performing and concentrated on the arrangements of productions and spectaculars. From 1949-1952, Persson played the saxophone in Thore Ehrling’s band. Even though Persson continued to be a studio musician, he spent more time writing film scores during most of the 1950s.

For nine years, Persson conducted the Swedish Radio Big Band which included many renowned Swedish jazz musicians, such as Arne Domnerus, Bengt Hallberg and Ake Persson. Some prominent American jazz musicians, such as Benny Bailey, Quincy Jones and Ernestine Anderson, performed with this Big Band.
