Horst Wende - BiographyHorst Wende (05.11.1919 - 23.01.1996) was a German Bandleader, Arranger and Multiinstrumentalist. He played in the band of his Grandfather at age of 6. He learned the following instruments: Piano, Accordion, Xylophon and Marimba. After WW-II he moved to Hamburg to found his first own Quartet. In 1950, the German record-company Polydor discovered him, because Horst Wende was very versatile in using of various instruments and he was very familiar with many musical styles. He recorded German-vocal-music, instrumental music and folk-music. He also accompanied many German singing-stars of the time, like Lale Andersen, Freddy Quinn, Bully Bulahn, Margot Eskens and Rene´Kollo. His greatest success was the arrangement and background-music for Freddy Quinn´s german version of Memories are made of this (Heimweh) in 1956. From the year 1954 he used the pseudonym name Roberto Delgado for latin-american recordings.
