Ralf Bendix - Biography

  

Ralf Bendix, born as Karl-Heinz Schwab, was a German managing-director, singer, composer, producer and lyricist. Born on August, the 16th in 1924 - died on September, the 1st in 2014.
As a soldier, he loved the "modern" music from the US-GIs like Jazz, Swing and Country-music. He played in some Jazz-clubs as a student of economics to earn some money.

Later he became the managing-director of the German branch of the US-Airline Trans-World-Airlines in Duesseldorf. He also won a singer-contest and he got a record-contract with the Electrola-record-company Cologne in 1956. He started his singing carreer with German pop-songs and with coverversions in German language from international songs.
Remarkable is his German version of Elvis Presleys "Heartbreak Hotel" as "Hotel zur Einsamkeit". Other interesting recordings are "Last train to San Fernando" , "Buona Sera", or "Sixteen Tons" in German language versions. There is also an EP-Single with the title: "Ralf Bendix sings Rock-n-Roll".
His most successful song, was also a German version of Buzz Cliffords "Baby Sitting Boogie" as "Der Babysitter Boogie", which had been released in 1962.
Around 1965 he became the manager of another very successful German singer. His name: Heinz-Georg Kramm, better known by his stage-name HEINO. With Heino, Ralf Bendix produced many songs in the field of traditional German Folk-music.
