The Wonder Stuff - Biography

Formed in 1986 in Stourbridge, West Midlands in the UK with an original line up of Miles Hunt (Voice/Guitar), Malc Treece (Guitar/Voice), Rob Jones (The Bass Thing) and Martin Gilks (The Drums). This line up recorded 2 albums "The Eight Legged Groove Machine" and "HUP".

The band added multi-instrumentalist Martin Bell (Fiddle/Mandolin/Guitar/Keyboards) during the recording of "HUP" in 1989. Rob Jones left the band at the end of 1989 and was replaced by Paul Clifford.

The now five member band recorded two more albums "Never Loved Elvis" and "Construction For the Modern Idiot" before announcing they were splitting in 1993 and bringing things to an end with a headlining performance at the Phoenix Festival on 15th July 1994.

The band reformed in 2000 for a series of shows culminating in 5 nights at The Forum in Kentish Town, London. These shows resulted in the release of the live set "Cursed With Insincerity", the line up for this being Miles Hunt, Malc Treece, Martin Gilks and Martin Bell with Stuart Quinell (formerly of the band Understand) on bass and Pete Whittaker on keyboards.

Since then there have been 5 albums of new music released, with often shifting lineups (see Wikipedia for details on lineups) but always featuring Miles Hunt as lead vocalist, guitarist and principal songwriter.
