Dial M For Murder (Alfred Hitchcock's Dial M For Murder) (1954)
Originally released in 3D, which explains all the odd camera angles, especially the scissors stabbing.

Hondo (1953)
Originally a 3D film, which I suppose explains why the title shot looks the way it does (and why it is in 4:3 format).

Dolly Mixture - Everything And More 1978-1984
It's a mystery on how many copies were produced as I have been after the set for a good many years, probably since 2012. It did occur to me that maybe their stock went up in flames at the PIAS/SONY warehouse fire in 2011, there are many items on my wants list that were released around the years 2009-2011 which I have never managed to track down.

Don't Torture A Duckling - Arrow
More dumb picture covers. This artist like, er, literally takes inspiration from the English title, which rather unfortunately is derived from a somewhat bad translation of the Italian nickname for "Donald Duck".
As far as I remember there are no real ducks in the film, neither tortured nor otherwise.

D.O.A. (Dead On Arrival ) (1950)
Because the film fell into the public domain, there are numerous lousy DVDs out there. However German Publishers Koch Media GmbH presented a very good copy for their short run Film Noir DVD Collection (title Opfer der Unterwelt - D.O.A.).

Added the title screen from the Koch Media DVD (much sharper).

The Thing [1982] - Universal
Well is it widescreen? I shudder to recall the number of times this DVD was repackaged and I was conned into buying it again. All of the DVD versions I witnessed had a widescreen image shrunk into a 4:3 frame meaning that most of what you see on your TV screen is huge black borders. Eventually I gave up, but I have now just bought the Blu-ray version hoping that it will finally be OK.

The Red Queen Kills Seven Times - Arrow
The artist that Arrow commissioned to do the cover really isn't much cop, just look at that dopy cross-eyed expression.

Cold Blooded Beast - 88 Films
This film has been released numerous times under a multitude of alternative titles, but the version by 88 Films promises to be the most 'complete' so far.
The copious nudity makes you forget that this is supposed to be a slasher film, and the ladies are all meant to have issues that are not really explained but seem to involve a tendency towards lesbianism and nymphomania. Oh, I just remembered that the story is meant to take place in a hospital, a one which, rather conveniently for the killer, has wall displays of old weaponry - but who cares about the story when there are just too many other distractions, Hot Bloodied Beauties would have been a more apt title.

My Bloody Valentine - Ecstasy And Wine
Like all of MBV's rare records this one has been pirated, and frankly the pirated version sounds bloody awful, so be careful if you are offered one for sale. Pirated copies have a slightly 'out of focus' cover and several other indicators, I will add some notes and images later.

Die Gentlemen Bitten Zur Kasse (1966 - Now)
I found an English dubbed version of the feature film as a bonus on Network's recent Robbery DVD. The film is quite well made and is roughly split in two, first from the gang's perspective planning and carrying out the robbery, then once the deed is done we switch to the police operation tracking down the criminals.
Apparently the mini series enjoyed many reruns and is available on DVD, however because of some BBC-style foolishness the German TV company destroyed the negatives during a clearout. The German DVDs are apparently still OK with what materials they have to work from, however the English dub of the cinema release is not in great condition with distortion and damage like a bad video tape copy, and that is what we get on the UK DVD. Still it is worth watching and makes a nice bonus.

The Adventures Of Robinson Crusoe (1964)
Filmed in the Canary Islands, making the islands instantly popular with tourists searching for paradise, and resulting in horrendous free enterprise like Veronica's Strip.

My Bloody Valentine (1981)
Some versions of this original film were heavily cut - by the distributors - in order to get a lower rating.
BEWARE SPOILERS: If you want to check out the versions uncut vs rated, then follow this link to the movie censorship website.

Romancing The Stone (1984)
Note that in order to get a PG rating the BBFC demanded cuts to some scenes particularly near the end of the film where the bad guy gets his hand bitten off by a crocodile, (comic gore really).
Some UK issue DVDs will therefore also be cut, check the rating, if it is rated 12 then it may be OK.

I really wouldn't call it a repress being that it probably hadn't gone out of print, but seems like discogs do. The difference is just that "File Under Popular: Pop Groups" text has been added to the back of the sleeve, though it would be nice to learn the exact date when that text became obligatory....

hmmm, just having a closer look at that discogs one and comparing it with my copy....

Well there are more differences with my copy, discogs shows a grey back cover, mine is white, discogs show different text at the bottom right "To play this STEREO record on a....", mine states "This Mono record has been...." (with obvious sloppy work). Both discogs copy and my one have the "file under pop" text on the top right, but my copy also has "stereo" underneath the catalogue number.

EDIT: I think my stereo copy might have had covers switched, discogs lists a back white sleeve example as being from 1969. I reckon this probably happened through mis-information by Record Collector magazine, I have had a few copies pass through my hands and it is likely that I held onto one that Record Collector advised as being 'first issue'.
