bill mann 12th Aug 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumJack Scott - What Am I Living For | OK, thanks Bill.
bill mann 11th Aug 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumJack Scott - What Am I Living For | This one looks suspiciously like a boot to me, particularly the back sleeve. Four tracks on side two appear to be from ABC Paramount.
bill mann 5th Aug 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumJohnny Cash - With His Hot And Blue Guitar | I didn't realise there were colour differences in various issues, however I'm pleased to say mine has the light blue background.
bill mann 4th Aug 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumChuck Willis - I Remember Chuck Willis | No dates on my Canadian copy, distributed by Canadian London with Maroon Atlantic label.
bill mann 28th Jul 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumChuck Willis - I Remember Chuck Willis | I have this one and also a Canadian radio station copy, I'll dig it out, check if there's any dates.
bill mann 24th Jul 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Lakeshore Music Presents Good Old Rock & Roll | I know what you mean carey, same with the term R&B. To me that's Joe Turner, BB King, The 5 Royales etc, not the stuff that's called R&B nowadays.
bill mann 24th Jul 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Lakeshore Music Presents Good Old Rock & Roll | About 75% of this lot is NOT rock n roll.
bill mann 22nd Jul 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumAmos Milburn - Chicken Shack Boogie | This is an absolute must for boogie woogie fans. Every track is a killer diller, except for the last track which everyone but me thinks it's marvelous, I think it's shite, a badly done revival
to cater for the rock'n'rollers [of which I am one of course] but this one leaves me cold.
bill mann 16th Jul 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumBuck Owens And His Buckaroos - I've Got A Tiger By The Tail | I used to own this one, I agree Bill, it's a goodie.
bill mann 14th Jul 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumRitchie Valens - In Concert At Pacoima Jr. High | OK Bill. thanks.
bill mann 14th Jul 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumCharlie Feathers - Jungle Fever | Yes Bill, it is a very good album, no crap on this one. the only stuff missing is the Flip/Sun
hillbilly tracks, which I really dig.
bill mann 11th Jul 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumRitchie Valens - In Concert At Pacoima Jr. High | This sleeve, back & front, plus disc are almost identical to my US Del-fi issue which I've owned since the mid 60s. The disc is of a type of vinyl I've not seen before, almost shellacish [is that a word ? well it is now !]
bill mann 10th Jul 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumUriah Heep - Salisbury | Went to see Chuck Berry at Middlesbrough Town Hall many moons ago, this lot were on. They were really crap, mind you, not my cuppa tea really. Then Chuck appeared, blimey! he as even worse.
bill mann 1st Jul 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Everly Brothers - The Everly Brothers Sing | Hi George, Our fault? What a load of BOLLOCKS !
bill mann 2nd Jun 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumCharlie Feathers - Rock And Roll | Got to be a boot !
bill mann 2nd Jun 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumHigh Livin' - Ernest Tubb | Back sleeve says Marketed by President Records Limited, London
bill mann 2nd Jun 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumJohnny Cash - Greatest! | Title B2 is titled 'Luther's Boogie' on this LP.
bill mann 2nd Jun 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumJohnny Cash - With His Hot And Blue Guitar | This sleeve is not the 57 variety,[excuse the gag, it was totally unintended, but I thought I'd leave it in for a laugh !] it's probably from 69/70 ish. All of Johnny's Sun albums were reissued in so called stereo. I have a couple, but they are thankfully still in mono, despite what the sleeve indicates. Dunno about this one, as mine is a 57 issue with no stereo at the top left. Also the number system changed, LP 1220 on original pressings, became SLP 1220 on repressings. Then later on these 'stereo' issues.
bill mann 1st Apr 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumJohnny Horton - Honky-Tonk Man | Back in the mid 60s, Breathless Dan called this a great rockabilly album, he was so right, this is a real belter of an album.
bill mann 25th Mar 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumBo Diddley - Bo Diddley | I don't think mine is stereo !
bill mann 5th Mar 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Lonesome Drifter - Rock-A-Billy And Country | This is a great album [not got it now], only problem was poor sound quality, typical of early 'Collector' albums
bill mann 27th Feb 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumCharlie Feathers - Rock And Roll | Hi gnag, 1974 seems about right to me. thanks.
bill mann 27th Feb 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumCharlie Feathers - Rock And Roll | I thought this was earlier than '76. I bought this one. A mixed bag here, some real classy 50s hillbilly and rockabilly, but the last 4 tracks on side 2 are really bad [IMHO]. Stutterin' Cindy though, is a cracker from around 1968, produced by Breathless Dan. A pal of mine brought me a copy back as a prezzie from a trip to Memphis, along with a bio King 45 by Mac Curtis. those were the days !
bill mann 26th Feb 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Sun Rockabillys | Walked into WH Smiths one lunchtime for a skeg through the racks, and BANG ! There it was, straight out of the blue ! There was no promotion or anything like that. What a gem, a few unissued sides here in 1974. Little did we know at the time there was still more to come !
bill mann 24th Feb 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumMac Curtis - Ruffabilly | I agree here, as I bought mine from Reddington's in Birmingham about 1973.
bill mann 14th Feb 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumGene Vincent And His Blue Caps - Gene Vincent And The Blue Caps | Fabulous album by Gene and the Caps. every track is a gem, with Cliff Gallup at his very best !
bill mann 13th Feb 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumJerry Lee Lewis - Das Ist Jerry Lee Lewis! | Track A7 not on twice ! it's only on side 2
Mod note: fixed :-)
bill mann 5th Feb 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumJosh White - Ballads And Blues | I also paid a quid for mine, sleeve and disc in quite good shape. Early 50s, can't argue with that. Had mine about 30 years and played it only once, that was enough for me ! Had 'Strange Fruit' on a Brunswick 78 with 'House of the Rising Son' on t'other side, that one is long gone, about 45 years back I would think.
bill mann 30th Jan 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumSonny Burgess - The Legendary Sun Performers | Great album from the very very great Sonny Burgess.
bill mann 29th Jan 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumJoe Turner - His Greatest Recordings | This is a great album with really good sound, and as a bonus, Track B2 was an unissued version [not take] with differing lyric. Also got the 'Chuck Willis' & 'The Drifters', missed out on 'The Clovers' which I understand also has unissued stuff aboard.
