DeweyGill SUBS 9 hours ago | | 78 RPMRudy Marlow - The Woman In The Shoe / Turn On The Heat | Oh great, thanks Mike. Even my comments are kicking back. Bad internet connection right now

DeweyGill SUBS 10 hours ago | | 78 RPMRudy Marlow - The Woman In The Shoe / Turn On The Heat | Some of the info disappeared or flipped on the upload. I can’t change it or add on this end. This has happened before a couple of times. I had entered Marlow as the A side. Should I just resubmit the whole page and have this one deleted?

DeweyGill SUBS 10 hours ago | | 78 RPMRudy Marlow - The Woman In The Shoe / Turn On The Heat | This Lloyd Keating side was in my “not traceable” file forever, but this appears to be from a session led by Phil Spitalny. It seems “The Paramounteers” name was also added to the session.
This pairing also on Columbia 1068-P, Diva 3053-G, Harmony 1053-H

DeweyGill SUBS 14 hours ago | | 78 RPMMike Doty - Puddin' Head Jones / Annie Doesn't Live Here Any More | Images added.
Recorded November 9, 1933
This is the regular Joe Haymes Orchestra using Mike Doty’s name for a session. Joe Haymes, director.
Ward Silloway misspelled on the label.

DeweyGill SUBS 18 hours ago | | 78 RPMRay McKinley - I'll Keep The Lovelight Burning / Who Wouldn't Love You | While this session would have qualified, Rust did not include some of the upstart label contributions in the pre-ban months prior to July 31, 1942.

DeweyGill SUBS 19 hours ago | | 78 RPMJay McShann - Swingmatism / Vine Street Boogie | Looks like image 2176292 is no different than the current lead image (2165551)
DeweyGill SUBS 19 hours ago | | 78 RPMJay McShann - Swingmatism / Vine Street Boogie | Added cropped “sepia” B side and larger A side image
DeweyGill SUBS 19 hours ago | | 78 RPMJay McShann - Swingmatism / Vine Street Boogie | Charlie Parker is featured on “Swingmatism”
DeweyGill SUBS 19 hours ago | | 78 RPMBen Pollack - Thru The Courtesy Of Love / Now Or Never | Band includes Harry James, Charlie Spivak, Glenn Miller, Irving Fazola, Freddy Slack
DeweyGill SUBS 20 hours ago | | 78 RPMGeorge Olsen - Somewhere In The Night / Which Way Did They Go? (They Went That-a-way) | Side A is a somewhat tepid post war vocal, but the flip jumps back to the style of novelty sides Olsen did in the late ‘20’s. This one deals with the then immense popularity of matinee Westerns at the theaters in the late 1940’s.
Posse: “Which way did they go?”
Girl: They went that-a-way- and they was desperate! They almost took me with them!”
Posse: “ No one’s THAT desperate!”

DeweyGill SUBS 22 hours ago | | 78 RPMHollywood Dance Orchestra - I'm Following You / Would You Be Blue? | Thanks, Mike
DeweyGill SUBS 30th Sep 2024 | | 78 RPMHollywood Dance Orchestra - I'm Following You / Would You Be Blue? | Jewel 5792 should have also been listed with the other “I’m Following You” companion issues
DeweyGill SUBS 30th Sep 2024 | | 78 RPMOzzie Nelson - Central Avenue Shuffle / Sir Walter's Serenade | This session was pretty much the end of Ozzie’s big band recording career. I believe he still appeared at live engagements and did some film work with his orchestra through part of the war years.
DeweyGill SUBS 29th Sep 2024 | | 78 RPMHollywood Dance Orchestra - I'm Following You / Would You Be Blue? | Many of the above issues listed in “Notes” are from my notes, and not listed in Rust’s discography of American Dance Bands. I didn’t have the Creager Cameo 0139 accessible to double check, but I think I deciphered my scribbling correctly.
“I’m Following You” must have been a popular item to appear on nearly every dime store label that used the Plaza recordings. It is indeed a fine version.

DeweyGill SUBS 29th Sep 2024 | | 78 RPMClara Smith And Her Jazz Band - When My Sugar Walks Down The Street / Alley Rat Blues | Variant added
DeweyGill SUBS 29th Sep 2024 | | 78 RPMVarious Artists - A Jam Session At Victor | Thanks! Page looks much better
DeweyGill SUBS 28th Sep 2024 | | 78 RPMVarious Artists - A Jam Session At Victor | Resubmitted scroll labels. Please delete the uncropped glared images [Gladly! Also moved up the original scroll labels. Mod.]
DeweyGill SUBS 28th Sep 2024 | | 78 RPMJoe “Wingy’ Mannone And His Club Royale Orchestra - Trying To Stop My Crying / Wailing Blues | It seems the early issues were catalogued by a monthly release date and hand numbered after the labels were printed.
These early HRS pressings are desirable, as they are quality pressings and the mastering was excellent. This particular release sounds far better than the 1945 80000 series Brunswick reissues. The shellac even seems better than a typical ARC release of the time.
DeweyGill SUBS 27th Sep 2024 | | 78 RPMD’orsay Dance Orchestra - In A Dream / Where The Blue Of The Night (Meets The Gold Of The Day) | “Le Dandy’s” voice sounds affected to me, I’m guessing it’s just one of the regular contact singers.
Jimmy “D’orsay” is on this session, but not Tommy
DeweyGill SUBS 27th Sep 2024 | | 78 RPMWally Edwards [California Ramblers] - How A Little Girl Like You Can Love Me / Don't Tell Her (What Happened To Me) | Both most likely directed by Ed Kirkeby.,
Irving Kaufman is suggested as the vocalist on both, but it doesn’t sound like him.
DeweyGill SUBS 27th Sep 2024 | | 78 RPMChick Bullock And His Levee Loungers [Gene Kardos] - Goofus / Darkness On The Delta | “Darkness On The Delta” actually contains the lyric “Lounging on the levee”. While it appears the “Levee Loungers” name was used prior for an issue or two, it was used regularly after this,
Bunny Berigan on trumpet. He would become a frequent sideman from this point on.
DeweyGill SUBS 27th Sep 2024 | | 78 RPMJohnny Fenton And His Swamp Stompers - Don't Let Your Love Go Wrong / Sweethearts On Parade | Interesting territorial band. Violin, Alto sax, Guitar, Accordion, String Bass, Washboard playing pop/ dance selections
DeweyGill SUBS 27th Sep 2024 | | 78 RPMErskine Tate's Vendome Orchestra - Static Strut / Stomp Off, Let's Go | Oops. Somehow I missed that this was already listed
DeweyGill SUBS 27th Sep 2024 | | 78 RPMRichard M. Jones Jazz Wizards - Dusty Bottom Blues / Scagmore Green | Added older style label. Looks like they were still using these through April
DeweyGill SUBS 27th Sep 2024 | | 78 RPMBessie Smith - Woman's Trouble Blues / Love Me Daddy Blues | Added much discussed early A side. Reverse matches
DeweyGill SUBS 26th Sep 2024 | | 78 RPMSociety Night Club Orchestra - Two Hearts / It Must Be True | The Society Night Club name was generally used for waltz sides.
Also issued on Banner 32128, Oriole 2230
DeweyGill SUBS 26th Sep 2024 | | 78 RPMSnooks’ Memphis Ramblers - (Yoo Hoo Hoo, I'm Calling You) Under Your Window Tonight / Love Is Like That | Apologies for the rough labels. And I don’t think I have a better one
DeweyGill SUBS 26th Sep 2024 | | 78 RPMSharkey And His Sharks Of Rhythm - Old Fashioned Swing / Big Boy Blue | This “Old Fashioned Swing” is just that. A Glider, as they were called, or a cushioned swinging bench that would be found on an outside porch or patio. But the song swings as well.
