Long time DJ (40 years) Dad was a DJ in the 50's. His friends were in radio and the record business who handed out 45's like candy. Neighbor had a lucrative juke box route. Surrounded by records as a kid. Started accumulating (collecting) in 1959. My main area of expertise is 78 rpms, I've hosted a radio program the last 40 years dealing with vintage jazz, swing, western swing and some pre-war blues thrown in for good measure. I play only shellac on the show, outside of a few air shots. Eventually plan on submitting 78 rpm entries. Gotta get through these 45's first
A rather tongue and cheek dance about the controversial British Prime Minister. By May of 1940, he had received several no confidence responses from his peers, so he stepped down. Winston Churchill immediately took his place.
Chicago native. Discovered and championed by Paul Whiteman. Started as a staffer at WLS in the 1920’s, moving to NYC to accompany Zigfield Follies shows. Film work with Rudy Vallee, Dorothy Lamour, Jinx Falkenburg, others. Radio work on PW’s Chesterfield Show, Benny Goodman, Kate Smith, etc.
Considered the first jazz accordion player.
