Don Grusin And Bill Sharpe - Trans Atlantica
I expect you're right: this Bill Sharpe is the American jazz bassist, so we can conclude that the jazz albums State Of The Heart and Kingdom Of Fitzrovia are his. The Shakatak Hits album is the British keyboardist and arranger.

Carmen McRae - Book Of Ballads
Review
27 tracks, all but one with sparkling big-band arrangements, and every one about that most vacuous of song topics, "Love", perfectly forgettable, even I Couldn't Care Less which had been crooned by Bing Crosby. The one exception is where she is accompanied by Don Abney on piano in a fine version of the unforgettable Angel Eyes.

It is only a shame that the last line is cut short: this seems to have happened with two Carmen McRae compilations and I'd love to know if it was missing on the original Kapp LP. Somewhere the end of the tape with the words "while I disappear" and probably a piano coda, has dropped on the cutting-room floor.

Several jazz evergreens, but it was the arrangements by Ray Ellis that turned this into a Jazz Album.

This LP could equally have been entered as a Netherlands entry: the Classic Jazz Masters series was edited by a Netherlands team and the cover printed in Holland. However Riverside production seems to have been intended for a pan-Europe market. The catalogue number RM 8806 was printed on the sleeve but has been covered by a sticker with a number presumably intended for distribution in another country, which could be either UK or USA. My copy came from The Diskery, B'ham in the 60s

This video shows one of the 78s from which the material was transcribed, Slow Drag Blues by Charles Davenport. Dr. Rookmaker has edited the tracks and other revisions may be uncovered via YT or 78cat

Is this slow ballad version of Angel Eyes as on this album, and if so, is she accompanying herself, or who is playing piano? Jimmy Rowles?
