Fokeman 15th Apr 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Chieftains - The Chieftains 3 | I also have the bright cyan label with 1973 on the label which coincides with it having just won the Valladolid prize in 1973.
Fokeman 15th Apr 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Rakes - The Rakes | I have an orange label. Other labels are available.
Fokeman 7th Apr 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumBachelor's Gate - Bachelor's Gate | John Connolly is a misspelling of John Conolly.
Fokeman 1st Apr 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumCatherine Perrier - Chansons Traditionelles Francaises | Here, Emmanuelle Fromont is the same artist as Emmanuelle Parrenin.
Fokeman 1st Apr 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumMalicorne - Balançoire En Feu | Is it possible that the insert is actually the other side of the inner sleeve and vice-versa for the other image...
Update, I've changed them all around so that they are now correct.
Fokeman 1st Apr 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Johnny Thompson Singers - I'm On My Way To Zion | Evasion was based in Lausanne, Switzerland. This is not a French release.
Fokeman 28th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Melbourne Church Of England Girl's Grammar School - Christmas Vesper 1962 | The reason why it was not listed on the label was that this was a very limited run or even a one-off (probably the former) in order to celebrate the event by saving it for posterity. There are a few others on the labell like this with a SCO number rather than a POL number. The POL number was used for records which were mass produced (well produced in larger numbers at least) for the general market.
The shop in which the Score label was based also provided an acetate-making service using metal centred acetates with a one off recording. You could use it to send messages of love or produce songs or demos to be used in marketing or just for fun. These could be either one-sided or two-sided and have a rather pungent smell as the acetate material is rather volatile.
Fokeman 24th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumNazareth - Malice In Wonderland | It's odd that after matching the silver colour catalogue number with the background that makes it virtually invisible, they didn't think to add a "Side One" and "Side Two" text on either side.
Fokeman 23rd Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumJackson Heights - Bump 'N' Grind | Spaghetti Sunshine credited to Chalton
Fokeman 22nd Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumSapphire Thinkers - From Within | This is the advanced Promo, but it did also have a commercial release. We can put them all on the same page if there is no difference in tracks or catalogue number.
Fokeman 16th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Top Of The Pops | If you want to add the tracks without playing the record, the track-listing is here...
Top Of The Pops 835
Fokeman 16th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumSt. John Ambulance Brigade Band - Brass Band | I think this is how it appeared on the rear of sleeve but in fact, the sides were reversed and Side 1 became Side 2 on the labels.
Fokeman 14th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumBlack Sabbath - Black Sabbath | I may be O CD but I'm so relieved you've done that! Thanks.
Fokeman 9th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumBlack Sabbath - Black Sabbath | It's always nice to see someone using the turntable to put concentric biro marks on a Vertigo label.
Fokeman 9th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumBlack Sabbath - Black Sabbath | I think there may be two different label types where one set of labels has "Made In France" and the other has no "Made in France" at all on the labels. I'll put both up in the next few hours.
Fokeman 6th Mar 2024 | | 78 RPMConnie Foley - The Town Of Galway / The Wild Colonial Boy | This was also at some time either later or earlier available on the white Copley label.
Fokeman 4th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumVangelis O. Papathanassiou - Earth | #nboldock, your later pressing black labels date from about 1980.
Fokeman 4th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumClear Blue Sky - Clear Blue Sky | Thanks. I did check yesterday and it certainly says "The Rocket Ride" on my French copy. I'll update images asap. The "Play it Loud" tagline is entirely absent from the French issue, appearing neither on the spine nor on the label.
Fokeman 3rd Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumClear Blue Sky - Clear Blue Sky | The Rocked Ride is as it appears on the label. However I suspect that (as with the UK issue) it should have actually said "The Rocket Ride".
Fokeman 2nd Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumNazareth - No Mean City | Original issue on the coloured paper label with spaceships. This later label is round about 1980 when a whole slew of black label vertigo / transatlantic / logo / various other polygram labels came out with the same black painted labels with silver text.
Fokeman 1st Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumBill Haley And His Comets - Bill Haley And His Comets | This is NOT on the Transatlantic label. It is on the XTRA label. It is certainly true that XTRA belonged to Transatlantic but it had a very different profile and exists in its own right in the database.
Fokeman 29th Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumJoe Cahill - Ireland's 32 And Other Irish Favourites | I'm trying to find out the explanation for the existence of this record with the catalogue number 1018 when nothing exists between 1012 and 1018. Any information would be most welcome. Were there plans for five other releases which never saw the light of day? I don't think it's the case but were the other intervening numbers ever actually issued? 1013, 1014, 1015, 1016 & 1017?
Fokeman 26th Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumSean Ryan Trio - Back Home To The Cliffs Of Mohir | Sean Ryan the fiddle player. Not to be confused with Sean Ryan the tenor.
Fokeman 26th Feb 2024 | | 78 RPMSean Ryan - Ave Maria / The Holy Child | Here, Sean Ryan is a tenor. Elsewhere, Sean Ryan is an Irish fiddle player.
Fokeman 25th Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - A Tribute To President Kennedy | It's just possible that this doesn't exist. Shamrock often put 901 on the back of their other LPs but they made the President Kennedy Tribute LP 501 so it's possible to find it with this number. I certainly believe it was planned to issue this one as 901 but as they say "There's many a slip 'twixt cup and lip..."
Leastways, by the time 903 was issued, both 901 and 902 were no longer in catalogue or advertised for sale on the back of the later LPs.
Fokeman 25th Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - The Best Of Dixie | Trying to find the White Label name anywhere on this release.
Fokeman 23rd Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumBlack Sabbath - Vol . 4 | Originally this was imported into France with import stickers on UK issues. Eventually, France printed their own version with just a single sleeve and originally, the classic French white label with Swirl.
Fokeman 23rd Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumCarl T. Sprague - The First Popular Singing Cowboy | This was missing from the 1976 catalogue when the catalogue already went up to 15009.
15004, 15005, 15006 were all "Not Issued Yet" by the end of 1976. So the 1978 date is correct. The rear of sleeve has the 1978 publishing date at the bottom.
Fokeman 23rd Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumSpooky Tooth - It's All About | My matrix codes are
Side 1: ILP ST SC A (I'm assuming ST=Stereo, SC=Stereo compatible)
Side 2: ILP ST * B (where * is a B strikethrough or some other mess)
Fokeman 23rd Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumJanne Schaffer - The Chinese | Thanks Burton LeB. Taking photos with the cellophane still on, never produces the best images. Your images have now been promoted.
