Obituary for Dave O'Docherty
Fokeman 13th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumNew Celeste - Live | It says 1982 on the label. We can be fairly sure that is the date of issue... The original issue date for the French release which came first was 1981. [Mod: corrected]

Fokeman 12th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumRalph McTell - My Side Of Your Window | #Gian_paolo, your copy is a Pye pressing which usually has a certain amount of red vinyl in the black vinyl pressings.

Fokeman 12th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumJohn Renbourn Group - The Enchanted Garden | Although Logo had bought Transatlantic out by this stage and owned the copyright, this was still on the Transatlantic label and others followed in this series on the Transatlantic label - see Bert Jansch.
Correction, this was on the Logo label although it clearly states copyright and publishing rights were owned by Transatlantic. A bit bizarre this one, since Logo had just taken over the rights of Transatlantic having bought the company. Despite this, the vast majority of Transatlantic releases which were issued at this time in France, had the Transatlantic logo on the label.

Fokeman 11th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumDeep Purple - Deep Purple | I wonder whether this was designed to be sold in the UK or France?
Fokeman 7th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Swedish Fly Girls | After talking to Linda about the Melanie Safka track, she's pretty sure it's not her. She and Sandy were good friends at the time so it seemed like a good guess. Not least because at times it sounds exactly like her. They did appear together on several other records at around this time. They were both on the LP by Brian Maxine in 1975 and both sang backing vocals for the Icelandic band Maggi in 1973. They both appeared on the album by The Bunch in April 1972 only one month prior to this record appearing.

Fokeman 2nd Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumDeep Purple - Deep Purple | I have a UK issue, French pressed edition of this with a UK Ernest J. Day sleeve and SHVL 759 catalogue number on a French label with BIEM collection badge. It must have been the UK issue because the French issue had a completely different catalogue number. Does anyone know anything about this version?
Oh, I see I'm late to the party. See here...

Fokeman 2nd Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumElectric Light Orchestra - Three Light Years | An6y66, you've shown the special edition ELO inner bags. Did all copies come with these? They are quite fun.
Fokeman 30th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumMick Softley - Sunrise | The Rock Buster was a double-album which came out to promote the CBS catalogue at the time. The sticker indicated that one of the tracks from this album was on the double-album sampler. See here... with an early image of Schwartzenegger.

Fokeman 30th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumFairport Convention - John Babbacombe Lee | I think you may well be right Hawkmarty.
Fokeman 30th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumJonesy - Keeping Up | These red vinyl pressings were typical of PYE when pressed at this time. They are black but appear red when held up to the light. I assume a large delivery of black vinyl with some red vinyl in the mix.

Fokeman 30th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumKing Earl Boogie Band - Trouble At Mill | B4 should be "Go Down, You Murderers!" by Ewan MacColl. So both the track title and composer credits are wrong on this release.

My copy has the red swirl label, same catalogue number, same barcode but BIEM/STEMRA instead of GEMA
Then yours is a Dutch issue.
Fokeman 29th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumMick Softley - Sunrise | One of my copies has "April Music Ltd." as a publisher both sides rather than Cop. Con.
Is the date 1970 rather than 1971?
Fokeman 29th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumFairport Convention - "Babbacombe" Lee | Was there ever more text squeezed on a record label?
Fokeman 25th Dec 2023 | | 78 RPMJohn Feeney - Shawl Of Galway Grey / If There'd Never Been An Ireland | I'm not quite sure of the medium used in these records. I suspect that they are cut on acetates which means that they smell different. They are also less brittle than standard shellac but not quite as bendy as vinyl.

Fokeman 24th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumJune Tabor - Ashes And Diamonds | A prize-winning album I believe.
Fokeman 23rd Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumIan Matthews - Hit And Run | One of my favourites from this era by the great Ian Matthews. Iain Matthews now, of course.
Fokeman 23rd Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumIan Matthews - Tigers Will Survive | The guitarist is Tim Renwick. I think the stylised T made you think it was a J. But it is not Jim but Tim. It's the same letter that Timi Donald's name begins with. And it's Timi not Jimi.
Fokeman 23rd Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumTeddy Palmer's Rumble Band - Teddy Bear | Just listening to this now. It's pretty good! The cover is liberally covered in glitter along the name of the band. I wonder if this idea came from any other Glam Rock band?
Fokeman 23rd Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumSniff 'n' The Tears - Fickle Heart | Although this was manufactured in Germany, it's clearly a French release.
Fokeman 23rd Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumKeef Hartley Band - Overdog | Images of centre would be better full size since as they are, we can't read any of the text. Could you possibly make them full size - the same size as the front and back cover, please?

Fokeman 22nd Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumMotörhead - Overkill | Just picked up the green vinyl version. Lovely!

Fokeman 16th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumJohn Aherne - At Home And Abroad | I've now moved the version with only 6 songs on each side without the sticker to a new version.
@Gian_paolo your version is the other one. I've moved your images to the other one and put the sleeve up to accompany it without the extra track.
Fokeman 16th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - British Blue-Eyed Soul | My copy has the Mono sleeve with Stereo LP. The sleeve is stickered to make up for the error although the ILP 966 shows through at the side of the sticker.
Fokeman 16th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumJohn Aherne - At Home And Abroad | I'm wondering whether to create a new version to note the two different pressings with different number of tracks. Although they have the same title and catalogue number, they are essentially different records given the different number of tracks.
Fokeman 6th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Monsters Of Rock | I was there!
Fokeman 6th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumRare Bird - Sympathy | It's very odd that this was CS 4 since CS 4 had already been released over a year earlier and by 1976 we had already seen released much higher numbers up to CS 12.
Fokeman 6th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumAtomic Rooster - Assortment | I'm not sure that makes sense. It IS on the Charisma Perspective series as is defined by having Charisma Perspective in a box on the cover. You're correct that this was missed from the labels but it was nevertheless part of the series.
