gregs45s SUBS 10th Nov 2014		After a quick search,it appears that the full blue CD is,in fact as labelled,i.e 1996,the earlier 1988 and 1982/84 issues were all on either red or blue swirls.



fixbutte 10th Nov 2014		Merged 1996 Blue Disc issue with the existing Vertigo Red Swirl issue with the same cat# and barcode. I can't decide, however, if this one was actually from 1988 (as originally entered by 78rpm-maniac) or from 1984 (as suggested by nicoldo64). Anyway, the first issues with the Vertigo Blue Swirl disc already came out in the first half-year of 1983 but had a different barcode (3 259180 005221).

PhilMH 9th Nov 2014		Oh, you're right, I only saw the first one with the "special price" tab on the front cover from 1984 has a different barcode, I didn't scroll down to see the 1988 one which has the same barcode as this! (And I wonder whether the years are transposed on those two?).

PhilMH 9th Nov 2014		Hi greg, the Euro issues have different barcodes. In fact, I am surprised that these 1996 issues have the 422 barcodes, whereas my (admittedly imperfect) memory tells me that the earliest PolyGram barcodes for their 6-digit numbering system were 422, but there must be some finer point of barcode allocation that I'm not aware of!
