GEMSMFAN 1st Dec 2015 | | DVDWhere The Boys Are - Warner Home Video | it is worth noting that this was pressed as a DVD-R (has a shiny label side and pinkish tint on the playing side). Warner Bros. decided to release a large selection of titles this way, as they were produced in smaller numbers than their ordinary DVD titles. It was actually referred to as "MOD", manufactured-on-demand.

GEMSMFAN 28th Nov 2015 | | VHSThe Beatles Film Collection - Musik & Film Vertrieb | dr.pepper1952: a suggestion, you should add the 3 movie titles using "Add Missing Info" and going to the "Add Extra Title" link. This will link each title, if added individually, with Cinema World

GEMSMFAN 26th Nov 2015 | | BookMario Panciera - 45 Revolutions (1976/1979) | Wow, it is available, but quite costly!!
Almost 1200 pages... that's got to be heavy too.

GEMSMFAN 22nd Nov 2015 | | CD AlbumVarious Artists - 1000 Nadelstiche | ReviewA great collection of tracks, mostly hits from some of the biggest American and British singing stars sung in German!. hence "Amerikaner und Briten singen Deutsch".
The title, "1000 Nadelstiche" ("Tausend Nadelstiche", the German version of "Needles and Pins", by The Searchers", and included in this set) was the first in what evolved into several compilation volumes. With all the German recordings that exist, a book by the same title was published.
Bear Family, based in Germany does a great job reissuing these tracks and these German versions are quite rare. Most were released in Germany and possibly other German speaking countries (Austria, Switzerland) as 7" 45rpm singles and didn't fare as well on the charts as their English versions. Some didn't chart period.
This set, contains an informative booklet, but it is in German, so get out those pocket translators, ah yes (smartphone). Plenty of photos, as well as the German 45 release info.

GEMSMFAN 18th Nov 2015 | | BookPat Downey - Top 40 Music On Compact Disc 1955-1994 | ReviewA quite informative book for someone trying to track a song and a U.S. compact disc to which that song was included. Timings are presented mentioning "edited versions" or "special versions" OR whether the track was a "mono" or "stereo" mix. Sometimes special edits were substituted on the compact disc version of a particular album. Sometimes "best of" compilations were released and yet they weren't the "original" recordings and this book includes mentioning these, if known.
This book is especially helpful in finding those odd tracks, many of which only were available on possibly only one exclusive compilation disc. Included are speciality comps from Time-Life such as the "Sounds of the Seventies" series and from the Special Products divisions of some of the major labels.
To sum it up, this book in no way is a "complete listing" of the years included, as there were hundreds of CD's released and such a listing would require several volumes, but it is a great reference and time saver for someone wanting to track down their favorite tunes on CD.

note U.S. Elektra address on back inlay bottom
remember where it was pressed isn't necessarily where it was released
the GEMA right societies can easily confuse. note also there is NO
capsule-shaped Label Code number printed anywhere.. it is a U.S. release
another thing NO Europe: catalog number anywhere.. that is usually printed
on the spines.

Some of the values are hilarious. It's only worth an amount, if there is someone out there willing to pay that.

GEMSMFAN 2nd Nov 2015 | | DVDHullabaloo Volumes 1-4: A 1960s Music Flashback - MPI Home Video | Originally broacasted over the U.S. NBC-TV network nationwide.
NBC was the innovator on the latest technology, so in 1965, while the other 2 major networks were still broadcasting in black & white, they had color and this show was in color. Unfortunately, NBC whenever destroyed most of the original color tapes. What these DVD's and VHS tapes contain are black & white kinescopes. At the time, many programs were "live" or taped and shown once and unless there was some intent of repeating them, they were destroyed.
Music programs especially, since they weren't considered important and worth archiving.
