George Slv 12th Mar 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumPat Boone - Pat's Great Hits | Would you say the mono release contained the same rerecordings?
Love Letters In The Sand does not have the whistling intro.
|
George Slv 12th Mar 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumPeggy Lee - Guitars à La Lee | This is a fascinating album. It is scarce.
First, the title did not make clear that this was vocals by Peggy.
As you digest it, you realize it is arty and masterful.
It would typically be called jazz, and that's what the guitars are.
But Peggy did not consider herself a jazz singer. Neither do I. Why can't you sing pop in a cool jazzy style.
|
George Slv 9th Mar 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumEydie Gormé - Eydie | What an unfortunate cover portrait. Totally unflattering perspective. Why? Steve had a hand in producing this release, and this is not very professional.
Perhaps fortunately, this is a fairly useless album musically, and doesn't have much distribution.

George Slv 6th Mar 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumTeresa Brewer - The World Of Teresa Brewer | The Picnic Song is a quartet of London singers as described in the singles section.
Music! Music! Music! here is significantly faster than the single, which creates the mystery of which is correct and which had its speed adjusted. Hear an archive copy of this one. It also cuts the fadeout shorter.
|
George Slv 27th Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumSonny James - The Best Of Sonny James | Till The Last Leaf Shall Fall was a rerecording of the 1950s single.
Young Love is the original.
|
George Slv 25th Feb 2015 | | Classical ItemVienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Lorin Maazel - Sibelius Symphony No.2 | PhilMH, it's correct on 45worlds to do that. To me it's worse to have extra listings.
|
George Slv 25th Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumTeresa Brewer - Here's Teresa Brewer | She recorded a different "Day By Day" song in the 1970s, from the musical Godspell.

George Slv 18th Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumFrank Sinatra And His Friends - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas | SILENT NIGHT-PEACE ON EARTH - DEAN MARTIN from Guy Miller
[YouTube Video]
|
George Slv 18th Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumFrank Sinatra And His Friends - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas | One of the first Reprise releases. Mostly a buncha has-beens from 1950s Capitol. Frankie must have obtained these rights. A very obscure album, but very significant for Dean's song, which is now an important classic. I don't know when and where it was recorded.
It's not the same as his Capitol recording on A Winter Romance.
Peace On Earth originates from the movie Lady And The Tramp, written by Sonny Burke & Peggy Lee.

George Slv 8th Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Everly Brothers - Beat 'N Soul | ReviewYou've got to read the cover notes. It's almost as good as the music.
"The music drives harder than Phil Hill's piston ... Phil lays down a beat strong enough to make your eyes dilate ...
It has a song called Lonely Avenue. It has the mechanical viciousness of a time clock. The clagor of street car wires. Angry monotony. ..
It has Love Is Strange, which is damn near the best thing The Everlys have ever done ..
- Stan Cornyn "
My favorite Everly album.

|
George Slv 8th Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Original Motion Picture Hit Themes | I always think that the singles are issued first, and the darn album should say "from the single", instead of the damn single always saying "from the album".
I'm adding one or more for the list today, check my files.
I saw somewhere that a couple of these UA comps made the chart, but now don't see it in Billboard.
|
George Slv 7th Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Original Sound Tracks And Hit Music From Great Motion Picture Themes | That's nice Trainman. I don't believe in listing multiple issues of the same release, but one entry of each release from whatever country. It's just a start if you have it in you to add other entries or accept messages. I have #192 which they said was the first VA LP ever ? (1961)
|
George Slv 5th Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Original Sound Tracks And Hit Music From Great Motion Picture Themes | I wondering. I have their pop VA LP too. I suppose all of that type of VA release.

|
George Slv 3rd Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumTommy Roe - Greatest Hits | I suppose Collectibles is not the same as the Collectables company?
This album would be from analog source, produced in 1980.
|
George Slv 3rd Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Rock `n Roll Revival 1 | I have determined in the past that Haley on Mercury, and Pickwick, is rerecordings of the Decca releases. However I now can't find any trace of any Mercury vinyl releases.
Album contents were previously released on Mercury and Sonnet Records.
|
George Slv 3rd Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Machine Rock | Added inside cover scan, imperfect stitch, with contents. That's my writing on top.
|
George Slv 2nd Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Machine Rock | Well Neil, if it were me I'd rather have no song than the fake.
So to sum up, almost all the songs on this LP are the originals.
Do you want a Sheila discussion in the forum?
|
George Slv 2nd Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Machine Rock | Neil, the YT is not the one from this LP. That's part of my investigation. I got the original 45 lately. Do you hear the difference in the guitars on radio? It would have been some super processing if it is. I'll add more to this yet, and YT could be a good place for a discussion too.
|
George Slv 2nd Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Machine Rock | nboldock, check the correction queue [is that an actual word?] and there are 3 more songs to add. Otherwise it's correct. On the inside sleeve all are listed.
|
George Slv 2nd Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumNancy Sinatra - Movin' With Nancy | Contains the hit versions of Friday's Child and others. The TV show was lip-synced.
|
George Slv 2nd Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - The Fabulous 50's | The A5 song is the "Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered" composition.
Columbia was good in the 1950s but got mixed up by the rock era.
|
George Slv 2nd Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Machine Rock | Neil, I have covered all of them.
Now I'm trying to investigate the various versions of Sheila. You could check this Youtube post.
Oh and note the usual nod to the late-60s punks with B9, thinking it would make them buy it.
|
George Slv 1st Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Machine Rock | Rhythm Of The Rain is also a rerecording.
I'm trying to investigate whether there were two recordings or masters made at the time of 16 Candles.
|
George Slv 1st Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Rock 'n Roll Revival: 36 Rockin' Oldies | I have the separate Vol.1 disc. It's Pickwick alright.
See it at rym.
Our outlaw friends lie when they say "Man, these are the original hits". What can you expect from New York. Some are.
Sheila is the 1960 non-hit version from Judd.
|
George Slv 1st Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumTommy Roe - 12 In A Roe | Is Sheila on here a rerecording of the single?
If so can you link the audio?

|
George Slv 22nd Jan 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumIan And Sylvia - Four Strong Winds | Notice that this Four Strong Winds is not the same recording as the single version. But Vanguard put this album version on all their compilations to this day.
The single is superior, hear it on Youtube.
