George Slv 30th Nov 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Juke Box Jive | This release in other nations had different contents.
|
George Slv 29th Nov 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Juke Box Jive | Hurray for this album.
Altho I never understood why they felt compelled to add A8 and B5 from the punk late 60s. Trying to be cool with the hippies at the same time? Doesn't work.
Note that the top of the cover does not extend to square corners, just the shape of the jukebox.
But the Canadian issue had some differences in songs, including Daddy's Home.
|
George Slv 29th Nov 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumTeresa Brewer - Good News | Just jazz, and fairly loose. They called it spontaneous, I call it sloppy.
Well that's what Bob Thiele wanted ...
|
George Slv 28th Nov 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumBilly Vaughn - La Paloma | These are fantastic strong arrangements, in mono. The stereo mix was not as strong.
|
George Slv 26th Nov 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumCream - Strange Brew | Digitally remastered. Unsatisfactory sound.
|
George Slv 25th Nov 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumTeresa Brewer - At Christmas Time | The cover is with her daughters at the time.
She has conversation with them before each song.
|
George Slv 25th Nov 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumTeresa Brewer - For Teenagers In Love | I agree Trainman.
And fine pictures.
There were reissues not only on CD but vinyl from Bear Family. I'd have to research it ... maybe ...
My copy happens to be UK, and uses the bottom. It's clearly from 1957.
Here's an example of the bottom on a US release: at Musicstack.
|
George Slv 24th Nov 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumTeresa Brewer - For Teenagers In Love | From everything I see, the bottom cover was used for the 1957 release. The top one seems to be a reissue.

George Slv 24th Nov 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Guess Who - Track Record: The Guess Who Collection | Note No Sugar Tonight single version is nowhere to be found on albums. This is the original medley co-written by Bachman and Cummings. RCA decided to edit it for use on a single omitting Burton's New Mother Nature. This is Burton's revenge.
|
George Slv 24th Nov 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Guess Who - Track Record: The Guess Who Collection | Made from digital masters, I could never get satisfaction from the sound. The search is on for earlier analog.
|
George Slv 23rd Nov 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumTeresa Brewer And Count Basie - The Songs Of Bessie Smith | The kind of album that jazz commentators praise as being mature serious music while deriding standard pop music, while normal people tend to ignore it.
But yes there's good stuff here.
For myself, this After You've Gone is as horrid as it can get.

George Slv 23rd Nov 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumTeresa Brewer - Brewer's Best | Cross-reference to cassette tape.
|
George Slv 22nd Nov 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumTeresa Brewer - Brewer's Best | All US Philips recordings of the early 1960s, except B7 which I guess is the 1972 rock version that Philips distributed in Europe.
I'm told that this was Netherlands.
|
George Slv 21st Nov 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumMarty Robbins - More Greatest Hits | It has always bothered me that they left out Five Brothers. That's one of his best songs. It charted somewhat. The other side was Ride Cowboy Ride, which is nothing.
Sometimes it seems like there's a reaction against the best.

George Slv 10th Nov 2014 | | CD AlbumJimmy Velvit [Mullins] - The Original Jimmy Velvit | This is a fascinating temptation for those who know this subject. There would be some around his territory of Dallas and Oklahoma who would have this CD.

George Slv 6th Nov 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumBuddy Knox - Buddy Knox | Missing Party Doll, Devil Woman, Rock Your Little Baby To Sleep. Good coverage of lesser singles 1958-1960 on Roulette.
|
George Slv 6th Nov 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumTeresa Brewer - Teresa Brewer | Looks like 5 of these were released in 1949, with two non-hit singles.
You say all were recorded in 1949 far ahead of release?
3 of these were recorded in 1950 and 1951.
|
George Slv 5th Nov 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumTeresa Brewer - Teresa Brewer | Per label, these were recorded in England. Backup was The Dixieland All-Stars, which included Max Kaminsky (supposedly famous). Now where was this group located? I always presumed New York.
And I assume Teresa was constantly living in New York.
