GimmeVinyl 5th May 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumLiz Phair - Exile In Guyville | Is the jacket and LP labels the same as the original 1993 release.. except for the cat #?
GimmeVinyl 3rd May 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Romantics - In Heat | I had a UK copy of this.. had it for years. It's on the UK Epic label. I've got to double check to see if it's still in my collection. Yes, I still own it!
GimmeVinyl 30th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumLiz Phair - Exile In Guyville | Last weekend, I'd seen a copy of this for sale at Dearborn Music... And they are asking $64.99 for the LP. Huh!! Has it really become a rarity?
Oh yeah.. mental note to self.. snap pics of the other 3 labels....
GimmeVinyl 28th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Michigan Rocks | This album is a good slice of Michigan rock from the late 60s... Even though I already own over half the tracks on 45, it's really nice to have them on one LP.
Also on the plus side, two of the tracks were recorded live at the Grande Ballroom, Detroit Mi.
Heavy Music should have been credited to Bob Seger And The Last Heard... Not The Bob Seger System.
GimmeVinyl 28th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumThe 4 Seasons - Golden Hits Of The 4 Seasons | I picked up this LP a couple days ago.. my copy has a label variation, so I've added these. One thing caught my eye.. there's a ARP stamp in the dead wax... I didn't know that ARP was pressing LPs in 1963... I thought that didn't come till much later.
GimmeVinyl 20th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Universal-International Studio Orchestra - The Glenn Miller Story | This LP couldn't be from 1956... Not the stereo version. Discogs lists it as from 1958 with the solid black Decca Stereo label, then the rainbow label reissue in 1960.
GimmeVinyl 14th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumCarmen Cavallaro - Rome At Midnight | Hilariously, the LP jacket states... "This DECCA Unbreakable Record can be played only on 45 RPM instruments"... OOOPS!!
GimmeVinyl 14th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumCarmen Cavallaro - Rome At Midnight | Released in the US as Decca DL 8359, in 1956.
GimmeVinyl 14th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumGene Pitney - Greatest Hits Of All Times | Added A side label and alternate labels
GimmeVinyl 14th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumJack Scott - Burning Bridges | Definitely a pressing from 1969-1972. The green Capitol label was only used for a couple years. I could kick myself for utterly destroying a green label Capitol Meet The Beatles when I was a kid. Who knew?
GimmeVinyl 14th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumMantovani - Gems Forever | Wow... #6 of the first PS100 series of London's FFSS.. London's first Stereophonic LPs.
GimmeVinyl 13th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumMantovani And His Orchestra With Rawicz And Landauer - Music From The Films | I can safely say, this was pressed in England at Decca UK, for the American market. The album jacket would have been printed in the US. This particular LP was #12 in the PS100 series.. London's first set of LPs that are FFSS.. Full Frequency Stereo Sound. Compare labels to my Ted Heath London PS 117... They were released at the same time.
GimmeVinyl 13th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumArtie Shaw And His Orchestra - The Best Of Artie Shaw | Found this the other day.. awesome mint shape vinyl. Thank God it's not the electronic stereo version!!!
GimmeVinyl 13th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Music For The Boy Friend | Pin up girl art is one of the Petty girls.. I should take a pic of my album jacket.. the yellow is mis-aligned by 1/4 inch. It looks really funky! Not sure why a bikini clad girl is wearing ballerina slippers..
GimmeVinyl 1st Jan 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumAC/DC - High Voltage | Just bought a copy of this today.. the label is now slightly different.. the Epic logo has been replaced by the Columbia logo. Since this is a variant, I need to take pics..
GimmeVinyl 1st Jan 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumKiss - Rock And Roll Over | Bought this today... Wow, it really took me back to junior high school! It looks very much like the original pressing, except on much heavier vinyl.. the label is spot on, except for the missing NBLP catalog number, the song publishers, and the Mercury trademark on the bottom. Sounds fantastic!!
GimmeVinyl 7th Nov 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumChubby Checker - Chubby Checker's Greatest Hits | A good friend of mine gave me this for my birthday back when we were still in high school.. played the hell out of it, and I wish I still had it... I wonder if they ever reissued it..
GimmeVinyl 5th Nov 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumSweet - Desolation Boulevard | Ok... So being an American, this version (meaning the US LP) of Fox On The Run is which version.. the UK single, or the LP? It's this version that I've always heard on the radio...
GimmeVinyl 30th Oct 2020 | | CinemaMad Max (1979) | Never count out the Goose, until you see the box go into the hole...
GimmeVinyl 30th Oct 2020 | | CinemaLock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels (1998) | Loved the film.... Awesome soundtrack!!
GimmeVinyl 25th Oct 2020 | | TVPrisoner: Cell Block H (1979 - 1986) | I've also been found guilty of watching this programme.. as it was shown on the UHF channel 20 WXON Detroit. The title then was Prisoner: Cell Block H in the US. It's been decades since I've seen it. The character names I do remember.. but little else. I do remember an old geezer TV repair man coming in to fix the telly, and remarked it was missing a valve.. and one of the gals made an escape, and "borrowed" some bloke's EH Holden ute that lived nearby..
GimmeVinyl 25th Oct 2020 | | TVSpecial Squad (1984 - 1985) | I used to watch this late night on CBC.. CBET Windsor Channel 9 many years ago. I thought it was a pretty good program. I've read that it was comparable to a UK program called The Professionals.. as the two shows had the same producer.
GimmeVinyl 21st Oct 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumBob Seger And The Last Heard - Heavy Music: The Complete Cameo Recordings 1966-1967 | This is an awesome collection of the early Bob Seger and The Last Heard singles put out on the Hideout and Cameo labels.. it sounds awesome, the pressing is nice and flat.. no skips or unwanted noise.. no distortion.. a very welcome addition to my collection!!
GimmeVinyl 21st Oct 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumBob Seger And The Last Heard - Heavy Music: The Complete Cameo Recordings 1966-1967 | Pressed in Detroit by Third Man!!
GimmeVinyl 7th Oct 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - 1962-1966 [The Red Album] | I'll swear that I have an opposite.. where sides One and Two have a red label, while sides Three and Four have a blue label. I'll have to check... Nope. One and Two are blue.
GimmeVinyl 4th Oct 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour | I've heard of people having issues with the Rainbo pressings of the Beatles LPs.. I now own With The Beatles, Rubber Soul, Revolver, and now Magical Mystery Tour Rainbo pressings. I've had no problems whatsoever with the previous 3 LPs.. MMT did have a skip on Penny Lane, until I gave it a good cleaning with the Discwasher. Must have been either static, or a little piece of something... Plays just fine now.
GimmeVinyl 30th Sep 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Frost - Rock And Roll Music | I found this on Monday, and bought it for my brother, who is a very big fan of Michigan rock.. and yeah, I was very surprised to find a nice, clean copy for $7.99 used.
GimmeVinyl 26th Sep 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumRedbone - Wovoka | Ok.. remember the tune "Come and get your love" very well.. In fact, I remember seeing Redbone on late night TV, on The Midnight Special program. But, what got me a good laugh was seeing people dancing to this on Soul Train.. OMG, the outfits.. totally Superfly! Look for it on YouTube..
GimmeVinyl 25th Sep 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beach Boys - Endless Summer | So... Does the 2008 version account as this entry, or a separate entry? I just purchased a brand new copy on Thursday. 180 gram vinyl. And it has returned to the glossy orange '74 style label. As I have read, it's pressed by Rainbo in Nashville, Tennessee.
GimmeVinyl 23rd Sep 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumLed Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin [IV] | I don't think that they are. I received a copy for Christmas.. it's black vinyl, and plays at 33 1/3 rpm.. The mastering doesn't seem to be as "hot" as the original 1971 US LP I once had..
