Juke Jules SUBS 14th Apr 2024		CD Album Vernon Building Society (Poynton) Brass Band - Together At Christmas	Review This album is a credit to Poynton Brass Band and its director Alan Lawton. One number that caught my ear in particular was Praise Ye The Lord, which is an arrangement, Carol 66, taken from the Salvation Army 1994 carol book "New Christmas Praise", of the hymn Hail, Smiling Morn, composed by Reginald Spofforth. The offences are referred to the police, who are at the heart of all the prejudices, including against one of their own staff who is not only of Indian origin but worse, a woman. Woman Police Officer Gladys Moss becomes the 'Harry Bates' of the story, contesting the injustice of the accusation. Will justice prevail? In 2023 to celebrate Mal’s Golden Jubilee Elton John returned the tapes and copyrights in all of the songs. Mal has now produced a re imagined and remixed version of the album including a duet with his 13 year old self ‘I Don’t Know How To Say Goodbye’. The CD has the original ‘Rocket Boy’ album plus 6 Bonus Tracks discovered on various other tapes that Mal collected from Rocket Records.
