keebrev 22nd Jan 2017 | | Classical ItemBerliner Philharmoniker, Herbert Von Karajan - Ludwig Van Beethoven | This vinyl box-set was a unique and a succesful selling strategy of the Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft. They knew ordinary people couldn't afford a box with originally seven records. So they sold the records one by one. Each record also contains a voucher (coupon) for collecting the box. After five vouchers it was possible to buy the box with a unique serial number. This one is number XV 220, and,(for your information), they added one record extra for the same price to sustain their high standard recording standards.
The box included a 20 - page booklet about the history of the symphonies and the recording sessions, starting from 1961 till 1963.
Here is an example of the sixth symphony as a stereo record SLPM 138 805
The inner sleeves have a relief of the DGG logo at the upper right hand corner.

"Spartacus" was the music of the seventies TV-series "The Onedin Line", with Peter Gilmore as capt. James Onedin

keebrev 14th Jan 2017 | | Classical ItemLondon Symphony Orchestra - Symphonie Nr. 9 D-moll, Op. 125 | ReviewA record of the budget Decca Viva! series. The quality of the vinyl is very flexible (only 118 gr), and the dynamic range is reduced to nearly nothing to get the ninth symphony on one record.
"Alle Menschen werden Brüder" sounds like a children's choir on this record.
Sir Edward Lewis turned in his grave if he heard this. It's not Phase 4 Stereo worth....Well Decca in the early '80 wasn't Decca anymore

keebrev 13th Jan 2017 | | Classical ItemDietrich Fischer-Dieskau With Gerald Moore (Piano) - Winterreise, Op 89 (D.911) | Just read the "Winterreise" book written by Ian Bostridge. Amazing. Now you listen to the music and lyrics from another view. Beautiful interpretation of the work. Although it was really cold in those days because of the eruption of the Tambora vulcano in the Dutch East Indies (there was no summer in 1816), the lyrics ofWilhelm Müller are about the struggeling in men's life.

So Coral used the same cover, of coarse without the Decca logo. Curious is that this record is made by Decca UK, see the inner sleeve (and the back of the cover).
The German Brunswick version has a slightly different sequence of the music tracks.

keebrev 14th Nov 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Kent U Ze Nog? | The radio on the front cover is a Philips B6X04A from 1960, a broadcast band receiver with a stereo 2 x 3 W valve amplifier (two EL84 valves and 800 Ohms 8" loudspeakers).
When you play the music not too loud, it gives a wonderful warm sound.
The songs are Dutch-language hits from the '60's
