LaurenceD SUBS 10th Nov 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumSteely Dan - Pretzel Logic | I've added scans from an early version of the MCA-37042 release. It has the Platinum Plus stamp on the cover with the MCA cat number, but the disc has the ABC AB-808 labels.
I wasn't sure whether to create a separate entry for this pressing; if we think that would be better, I can do that and move my images over...
LaurenceD SUBS 8th Nov 2020 | | CD AlbumBuzzcocks - Trade Test Transmissions | I have entered the tracks as listed on the inlay and insert - but there are actually 16 tracks - same as listed, except that there is an introductory 6-second track with a series of tones.
LaurenceD SUBS 8th Nov 2020 | | 78 RPMVarious Artists - Arms And The Girl | More info about this musical here.
Georges Guétary plays the part of a Hessian soldier, but he sounds, well, quite French...
LaurenceD SUBS 6th Nov 2020 | | Cassette AlbumThe Rolling Stones - Hot Rocks 1964 | 1980s release with some changes to the track order versus the 1970s releases.
LaurenceD SUBS 4th Nov 2020 | | 12" SingleElvis Costello And The Attractions - Green Shirt | Added standard cover
LaurenceD SUBS 4th Nov 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumOphir State Marching Band - Ophir State Marching Band | Sort of a marching band equivalent of Jonathan And Darlene Edwards; that is to say, frequently and defiantly out of tune. This organization is still active, now known as Ophir Prison Marching Kazoo Band & Temperance Society, Lmtd.
BTW, Ophir (Utah) is an old silver mining town southwest of Salt Lake City; considered a ghost town now, but still with some residents (less than 50).
LaurenceD SUBS 25th Oct 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumBuddy Hackett - The Original Chinese Waiter | This is a reissue of Dot DLP 3169 "Buddy Hackett", ca. 1959, but with the track order reshuffled.
The track "The Original Chinese Waiter" is a different (longer) recording compared with the version released on the Coral single 9-61105
LaurenceD SUBS 20th Oct 2020 | | 78 RPMHoosier Hot Shots - The Merry-Go-Roundup / Willie, Willie, Will Ya? | Added sharper scans with a nod to fredhoyt
LaurenceD SUBS 20th Oct 2020 | | CD AlbumJack Bruce - Songs For A Tailor | 1980s release
LaurenceD SUBS 20th Oct 2020 | | CD AlbumJack Bruce - Harmony Row | 1980s release
LaurenceD SUBS 16th Oct 2020 | | CD AlbumJack Bruce - BBC Live In Concert | The insert (see image 828648) states that this concert was recorded August 19 1977.
That is obviously wrong; the correct date is August 19 1971, not long after the release of Harmony Row.
LaurenceD SUBS 12th Oct 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumBill Medley - Nobody Knows | A couple of song title discrepancies between the cover and labels:
- A4: cover = "Easy", label = "Evie"
- B5: cover = "If This Were The Last Song", label = If This Was The Last Song"
The labels appear to have the correct titles.
LaurenceD SUBS 12th Oct 2020 | | 78 RPMSzóstka Figlarzy - Poprawiny U Zygmunta (Ziggy's Blow-Out) / Rżnijcie Chłopcy (Cut It Up, Boys) | Out of curiosity I ran the b-side Polish title through ggl translate and got a rather rude result.
LaurenceD SUBS 12th Oct 2020 | | 78 RPMGene Autry - Mexicali Rose / You're The Only Star (In My Blue Heaven) | Added label scans that include the "C 1177" recording of the b-side.
LaurenceD SUBS 12th Oct 2020 | | CD AlbumBenny Goodman - Live At Carnegie Hall | This is a straight reissue of the 1950 double LP. Subsequent discovery of the metal masters resulted in CD releases with improved sound quality and additional tracks; these later issues are highly recommended.
LaurenceD SUBS 8th Oct 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumMason Williams - Music By Mason Williams | Added cover front scan with sticker (on the shrink wrap); also side 1 label with different composer credit for track A3.
LaurenceD SUBS 8th Oct 2020 | | CD AlbumRandy Newman - The Randy Newman Songbook Vol. 2 | I picked this up second-hand; there is one of those little "ifpi/legítimo" stickers on the folder front. I've heard some complaints about sound quality with these Argentinian releases, but this one seems fine.
LaurenceD SUBS 8th Oct 2020 | | Classical ItemFrederica von Stade - Mahler Songs | Note that the insert/wrapper shows this as a CBS Masterworks release, while the tape shows Columbia Masterworks.
LaurenceD SUBS 6th Oct 2020 | | CD AlbumThe Dave Brubeck Quartet - Jazz Impressions Of Eurasia | Thank You (Dziekuje)
[YouTube Video]
LaurenceD SUBS 4th Oct 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - The Now Sound! | This was issued with a number of different brand names on the back cover; mine happens to have Playtex.
LaurenceD SUBS 4th Oct 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Dynatones Featuring Charlie Musselwhite - Curtain Call | Pretty sure that drummer "Walter Shuffelsworth" is the same guy as Walter Salwitz Jr., drummer for the later Dynatones lineup - looks like he was the lone holdover from this version of the band.
The Belly Up was/is located in Solana Beach. I did see Charlie Musselwhite perform there at a later date (with a different backing group).
LaurenceD SUBS 4th Oct 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Mamas And The Papas - A Gathering Of Flowers | I have the boxed release - the cover and labels are the same (the lyrics printed inside the box are identical to edlongus' gatefold scans), so... I added scans of the 16 booklet pages.
LaurenceD SUBS 3rd Oct 2020 | | CD AlbumArthur Brown - Kingdom Come | This release does not list the 3 extra tracks, but a later release on Castle lists them as:
09 Traffic Light Song (Alternative Version)
10 The Hymn (Alternative Version)
11 A Scientific Experiment Featuring Lower Colonic Irrigation (Alternative Version)
Also, this CD has changed the track order as compared with the original LP, i.e. it has side 2 followed by side 1. The story line of the LP was already confusing enough...
LaurenceD SUBS 2nd Oct 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumVido Musso - The Swingin'st | This is probably the most 'pimply' LP in my entire collection - but at least it is playable, albeit being rather noisy.
LaurenceD SUBS 28th Sep 2020 | | 78 RPMThe 4 Deuces - W-P-L-J / Here Lies My Love | I flipped the A/B designations to bring this in line with the 45cat entry.
Marv Goldberg's 4 Deuces page indicates that "Mr. Undertaker" is a pseudonym for Roy Hawkins.
LaurenceD SUBS 27th Sep 2020 | | 78 RPMFrankie Laine - Baby, Baby All The Time / Someday Sweetheart | Added labels with minor variations, and flipped the sides (Atlas adverts in Billboard designate "Baby, Baby All The Time" as the top side).
LaurenceD SUBS 27th Sep 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Country Greats | The tracks on disc 1 (except for The Jordanaires) are a mixture of A and B sides from Columbia singles released between August and November 1965 inclusive.
Each track on disc 2 is followed by a locking groove.
LaurenceD SUBS 22nd Sep 2020 | | Classical ItemJohns, Huttenlocher, Corboz - Puccini: Messa Di Gloria | Also released in Quadraphonic.
This seems to be a reissue of Erato STU 70890.
LaurenceD SUBS 20th Sep 2020 | | CD AlbumBlind Faith - Blind Faith | Added more scans. Same barcode, but slightly different insert front. There may be other differences, but cannot be sure, as Collsrt has provided only one scan.
Note that the insert lists the two additional 'Rick Grech' tracks, but these are not on the disc.
LaurenceD SUBS 18th Sep 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Ferrers (Rosemary Clooney and José Ferrer) - Selections From The Broadway Musical Comedy "Oh Captain!" | Released in mono format only.
This is not the original cast LP - that one was released on Columbia Masterworks (OL 5280 / AOS 2002)
