LaurenceD SUBS 25th Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumEmmylou Harris - The Legendary "Gliding Bird" Album | Added alternate side 1 label with A2 title "Fugue For The Ox"; however my cover listing is the same as image 2026232.
LaurenceD SUBS 25th Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumMerle Haggard - His Best | Added remaining scans, and a complete front cover (with respect to Collsrt)
LaurenceD SUBS 23rd Feb 2024 | | Cassette AlbumMarty Robbins - The Song Of Robbins | Judging by the other contemporary releases listed on the insert/wrapper, this would seem to be from late 1978 or early 1979.
LaurenceD SUBS 21st Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumDion - Abraham, Martin And John | Reissue of the 1968 LP; this one does not mention Dion on the (kind of cheesy) cover front.
LaurenceD SUBS 19th Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Gateway Singers - Wagons West | "Prairie" is an early King-Goffin composition that does not seem to have appeared elsewhere.
LaurenceD SUBS 19th Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumJack Reno - Hitchin' A Ride | I ain't superstitious, but ... that cat# looks unlucky to me
LaurenceD SUBS 19th Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe New Band of Spike Jones - Washington Square | Unusual to see Liberty LP labels with no side designations.
LaurenceD SUBS 11th Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumMonty Python's Flying Circus - Monty Python's Flying Circus | I don't have a release date for this, but it would have to be 1978 or later:
RPM July 8, 1978: "Ralph Harding ... has just unveiled his new company, Total Records, and will shortly be releasing product"
LaurenceD SUBS 7th Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumJr. Walker And The All Stars - Road Runner | That front cover image appears to be from the UK release ...
LaurenceD SUBS 7th Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumWilliam R. Rathvon - I Heard Lincoln That Day | Rathvon was 9 years old when he witnessed Lincon's Gettysburg address on November 19, 1863. He died in 1939.
LaurenceD SUBS 5th Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumFrank Zappa - Hot Rats | Added cover scans (which appear to be the same as for the 1969 Bizarre release), and variant label scans; I'm guessing that the off-center position of the title info was not intentional...
LaurenceD SUBS 5th Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumDee Dee Sharp - Down Memory Lane | Regarding the composers for track A5 "Calendar Boy": the label has the correct attribution (Sedaka, Greenfield); the cover mistakenly credits McHugh and Adamson for the title song from a 1947 musical film Calendar Girl.
LaurenceD SUBS 30th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumJimmie Rodgers - Yours Truly | Added scan for complete back cover, with respect to vidman45
LaurenceD SUBS 30th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumSam Butera And The Witnesses - The Continental Twist | Dot released an LP right around the same time as this one called "Doin' The Twist With Louis Prima" (DLP 3410/25410), also featuring Butera and The Witnesses.

LaurenceD SUBS 30th Jan 2024 | | Classical ItemVarious Artists - Havergal Brian: Symphony No. 4 | I don't have a release date for this, but would estimate it to be from 1976-1980.
Credited to "Sir Allistair MacKenzie, Edinburgh Youth Symphony and Chorus, Valerie MacLennan"
This Aries label (Reseda CA) has a history of issuing unauthorized releases of classical recordings and concealing the identities of the actual performers with made-up pseudonyms. The website havergalbrian.org lists these releases under their Discography of unapproved recordings, and provides the following information about the source recording:
Performance date: 13 October 1974
BBC air date: 25 June 1975
Performers:
- Felicity Palmer (soprano)
- BBC Singers, BBC Choral Society, Goldsmith’s Choral Union
- London Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor John Poole
I have entered the performers as shown on the album, along with the real performers for referencing.
High Fidelity Aug 1981 mentions this Aries label releasing Brian's recordings "a few years ago". They even contacted Aries and got a response: High Fidelity Aug 1981 - see article p.47 "Will the Real Colin Wilson Please Stand Up?" by John Canarina
This article (and the response from Aries) prompted many letters in the Nov & Dec 1981 issues, including one letter from Emil Franzi (Dec 1981) who really did contribute the liner notes, and was unaware of the pseudonyms.

LaurenceD SUBS 28th Jan 2024 | | Cassette AlbumVarious Artists - Somewhere In Time | I'm not 100% certain about the 1989 release date for the HiQ version.
The earliest mention of any MCA HiQ cassettes that I have found is in Billboard June 7, 1986.
LaurenceD SUBS 24th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - The World Of Surfin` | Note to owners of this LP: the original entry submitted by gnag150flow was for the mono release; subsequently images for the stereo release were added by a different member. I have created a corresponding stereo entry AS-108 and moved the images over there.
LaurenceD SUBS 24th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumDionne Warwick - Heartbreaker | My copy seems to be a later version, with a sticker (AL8-8006) covering the old cat# on the spine. The old cat# (AL 9609) is on the cover, inner sleeve and labels.
LaurenceD SUBS 22nd Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe 13th Floor Elevators - The Psychedelic Sounds Of The 13th Floor Elevators | Added scans; runouts on my copy match those listed by OldMod67
LaurenceD SUBS 18th Jan 2024 | | 12" SingleThe Stranglers - Shakin' Like A Leaf (Jelly Mix) | This single seems to be the same as SHEIK Q1, except that one included a poster.
LaurenceD SUBS 15th Jan 2024 | | 12" SingleThe Stranglers - Always The Sun (Hot Mix) | Composer credit on A side: "The Stanglers"
LaurenceD SUBS 13th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumRod Stewart - Camouflage | Added back cover variant. Apparently there are 12 different back covers, each being an enlarged section of the front cover photo.
LaurenceD SUBS 13th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumCat Stevens - Izitso | Added alternate side 2 label (3463668) with one different composer credit;
"Was Dog A Doughnut?" = Cat Stevens, Jean Roussel, Bruce Lynch
Side 1 on this copy is the same as 867801
LaurenceD SUBS 13th Jan 2024 | | 78 RPMArthur C. Rich - Jackie, The Son Of A Hardboiled Cop / (We're Gonna) Kick The Japs In The Axis | The 1942 date is an estimate based on the b-side copyright.
I have no information on this release or the label, but the "Jackie" poem appeared in various publications in the 1930s and '40s.
LaurenceD SUBS 11th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumSteppenwolf - 16 Greatest Hits | I think that in this case it's ok to leave those RCA club scans here, since they still have DSX-50135 as the primary cat no. I have added R113453 as an alternate number.
LaurenceD SUBS 11th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumSteppenwolf - Live Steppenwolf | Added label scans { 3461289 - 3461292 } intended for 'stacked' playing, i.e. disc 1 = sides A & D, and disc 2 = sides B & C. One little error is that the side numbers on the labels reflect a non-stacked order: disc 1 = sides 1 & 2, disc 2 = sides 3 & 4.
LaurenceD SUBS 11th Jan 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumSteppenwolf - Steppenwolf 7 | Added alternate labels { 3461274, 3461276 } with some differences in the composer credits for A1,A3,A4.
