memphismartin 6th Jun 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Elvis Presley | Hi stoutfellow,
This German NL album I think is a 1985 release because the record label has BIEM on top of GEMA (boxed). The 1983 NL albums have GEMA on top of BIEM (boxed).

memphismartin 17th Oct 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Elvis' Golden Records | @stoutfellow51:
There is no doubt that this was one of the nicest UK Elvis albums based on the American Christmas Album regarding the booklet. It is a great example to show digital and cd collector's of one of the finer examples of vinyl.
Some of the later Elvis box sets also come to mind.

memphismartin 14th Oct 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - A Date With Elvis | @whitewhale1965:
RCA in England used this album as an opportunity to restore to the catalogue tracks that were now unavailable due to the deleting of the HMV catalogue in September 1958.

memphismartin 14th Oct 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Elvis' Golden Records | @stoutfellow51:
This mono album is quite unique as it's the only Elvis album ever released using RCA's RED SEAL label. I think mostly soundtracks were normally used?
The label you uploaded is a 1969 small red label that compares with the 1969 small orange versions. Because this has 'Red Seal' to the right of the spindle, the word 'Victor' that would normally be there was omitted.
This red label was the last version released as RB 16069. The album would be re-issued with a completely different sleeve, catalogue number (SF 8129) and in horrendous 'electronic stereo' instead of mono within twelve months.

Hi, The image 537690: (SLEEVE NOTES on the right) is the inside of the rear of the gatefold album. The left image of 537690 is the last page of an 8 page booklet that was attached to the LP. Note: Image Number 463781 uploaded by kab2112 is the original back cover from this album.
I previously uploaded a later re-issue of Golden Records that also had a booklet, but which only contained 4 photos.
There was also other re-issues that came on a single sleeve and the SLEEVE NOTES are indeed the rear of these records.
Hope that helps..
Please check out my Elvis Vinyl Site that has more details.

The rear sleeve uploaded is the old SF 8145 sleeve from 1970 with an INTS sticker applied to the back. This was done so RCA could use surplus stock of the SF 8145 new black label albums. The front sleeve uploaded is the proper international front sleeve that goes with the green label.

|
memphismartin 21st Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Burning Love And Hits From His Movies Vol. 2 | This album, released in 1972, had either american pressings in a fully laminated UK sleeve, or the rarer UK pressing in a laminated front only UK sleeve.
|
memphismartin 21st Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Elvis Sings Hits From His Movies | Uploaded the original October 1972 RCA Camden Album with original record labels.
djraggy is correct that his scans are from 1978 when the RCA was simply omitted.
[Mod: images moved to correct entry]
|
memphismartin 20th Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Elvis As Recorded At Madison Square Garden | Uploaded the original fully laminated cover of MSQ.
Also added an unusual variation of this sleeve (possibly 1975... Elvis UK Book).
The front has no mention of RCA, Victor or the catalogue number, while the rear has no printer's name.
Added the 1977 'Side 1' and 1981 'New Black' labels.
|
memphismartin 19th Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Elvis Now | Uploaded the original 1972 sleeve and album. Also added the 1980/81 new black labels.
I think stoutfellows scans are either variation 2 or 3 (depending if the cover is fully laminated)
|
memphismartin 18th Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Rock 'N' Roll | Uploaded the 1977 Orange 'Side 1' labels.
Also added the 'New Black' label Variations
1980/81 versions have 'MANUFACTURED BY RCA LIMITED'
Later versions state: 'MARKETED BY RCA LIMITED'
|
memphismartin 17th Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - His Hand In Mine | Uploaded the 1971 re-issue of this album with the orange labels.
Also added the 1979 Blue 'Elvis' labels.
As with the previous re-issue 'How Great Thou Art' the album artwork is not as good as the original mono and stereo versions.
|
memphismartin 16th Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - How Great Thou Art | Uploaded the 1971 stereo re-issue of 'How Great Thou Art'.
Basically the same as the 1967 original release.
Unfortunately the quality of the original album artwork wasn't replicated with this release.
Also added the 1982 'new black' variation.
|
memphismartin 16th Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - C'mon Everybody | Uploaded the 1971 USA pressing.
This album even though it was made in the USA, was specifically produced for the UK market. It uses the UK catalogue number (INTS-1286). The american version uses the catalogue number (CAL-2518).
|
memphismartin 11th Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Golden Records Vol. 2 | Earliest sleeves stated on that the bottom centre, back: 'Printed and made by the Upton Printing Group'.
Later sleeves read: 'Printed and made in Great Britain by Garrodprint ltd.'
|
memphismartin 11th Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Golden Records Vol. 2 | Uploaded the 1977 Orange German pressing which came in the sleeve that Stoutfellow uploaded. You can see the sticker applied to the rear of the cover which stated: Record made in Germany, Sleeve printed in England.
Also added the 1971 sleeve with the original 1st pressing Orange label. Added the 1980/81 New Black label variation.
This golden record volume 2 re-issue also used the dreaded 'Electronic Stereo' like it's predecessor.
|
memphismartin 10th Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Elvis Country "I'm 10,000 Years Old" | Uploaded the original 1971 orange labels for 'Elvis Country'.
Also added the 1977 'Side 1' variation and the 1979 blue 'Elvis' label.
|
memphismartin 7th Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - You'll Never Walk Alone | 'You'll Never Walk Alone' was the first release on the new RCA Camden budget label in the UK.
Over the years the Camden labels came in all different shades of blue and turquoise. There was a notable change by the record label around 1978 when they dropped the RCA logo from the sleeve and album label, instead just using 'Camden'.
Uploaded the Canadian pressing that could be found in UK sleeves in around 1971 and the 1978 'Camden' variation.
The sleeves also have two main variations:
Manufactured by RCA LTD for Pickwick International Inc (GB) LTD Victoria Works, Edgeware Road, London, NW2. (Rear Cover, Bottom)
Manufactured by RCA LTD for Pickwick International Inc (GB) LTD The Hyde Industrial Estate, The Hyde, London, NW9 6JU. (Rear Cover, Bottom)
|
memphismartin 2nd Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Blue Hawaii | Uploaded some new variations of SF 8145. Most front cover variations are the same except for gloss or matt finish.
Back covers the same, but later issues added the price code HH on the back.
The new black label albums were also housed in the later matt cover with an INTS sticker applied to the back. This changed the album to the RCA International series that were released around 1981. These international albums were pressed on a light green label.
|
memphismartin 27th Nov 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Almost In Love | Uploaded the 1971 original lime green RCA International (Camden) labels of 'Almost In Love'.
At the time, two of the tracks 'Edge of Reality' and 'Charro!' had not been release in the UK before.
'Stay Away, Joe' had already been released previously on the budget label album 'Let's Be Friends'. This version though was an alternate take! released by mistake.
To make things worse, the track that should have been released on this album was 'Stay Away' which is something I think that quality control did back in the day.
|
memphismartin 27th Nov 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Elvis' Christmas Album | This album even though it was made in the USA, was specifically produced for the UK market. It uses the UK catalogue number (INT-1126). The american version uses the catalogue number (CAL-2428).
|
memphismartin 22nd Nov 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Pot Luck | Uploaded the original 1962 1st pressing on the RCA label. This was around the same time that RCA started to use the 'Victor' label. (see above)
|
memphismartin 22nd Nov 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - From Elvis In Memphis | Uploaded the original 1969 rear stereo cover.
Also added the original 1st pressing on the large orange label. As I have stated on the mono version, the surname of the co-writer of Only the Strong Survive is incorrectly spelt as Huffs instead of Huff.
I've also added the 1977 'Side 1' variation and the 1981 'New Black' label.
Also of interest is another variation of the rear stereo (yes STEREO!) sleeve that states that this album is also available in guess what.... STEREO!!
RCA (sigh) must be using old mono sleeves (cheap or what)
|
memphismartin 22nd Nov 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - From Elvis In Memphis | Uploaded the 1969 critically acclaimed "From Elvis in Memphis".
This is the original mono copy.
This album was unique in many ways.
This was Elvis' first non-film, non-gospel album, recorded since "Pot Luck" in 1962.
It was also the last album to be released in both mono and stereo formats.
It was also the first original album to be pressed on the large orange label.
The back sleeve states that this album is also available in stereo.
On the 1st pressing, the record incorrectly states that the co-writer's surname of "Only the Strong Survive" is spelt "Huffs". This was corrected on later releases.
|
memphismartin 21st Nov 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Fun In Acapulco | Just want to point out that this album (PL 42357) is correctly listed as released in October 1977. With in normal circumstances the sleeve above as well.
But as you can see there has been an RCA International sticker applied to the sleeve, thus making it an INTS release.
So this sleeve and album would be classed as an august 1981 release. RCA did this on a few albums to use up old stock of sleeves and vinyl.
|
memphismartin 20th Nov 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Speedway | Uploaded the 1968 stereo version of Speedway.
Included are the RCA Victor "Red Dot" label and the 1970 large orange label.
The last five songs on this album were now the usual "bonus" variety and were not from the movie.
|
memphismartin 20th Nov 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Speedway | This album was the final "Red Dot" release before RCA changed to the "small orange" label in 1969.
Also added the 1969 "small orange" version.
|
memphismartin 20th Nov 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Elvis' Gold Records Volume 4 | Again, where do you start with this one?
Same mistakes were made by RCA on the stereo copy as was made on the mono version.
Original front sleeves mistakenly listed Never Ending instead of Love Letters. This was rectified on later copies (uploaded).
I've added the original 1968 RCA Victor "Red Dot" labels, followed by the 1969 "small orange", the 1970 "large orange" and the latter 1977 orange versions that only state "Side 1".
You can also see the 1977 German pressing that were housed in UK sleeves as stated above.
Later back sleeves in the seventies replaced "Printed in England S.P. Ltd" with "Printed in England by Senol Printing Limited".
All of the earlier back sleeves showed photographs advertising the other albums in the "Golden" series.
They all used the original catalogue numbers.
Later copies blacked out the catalogue numbers on the original sleeves so RCA could use the re-issued SF catalogue number.
This is quite ridiculous as the front sleeves for volumes 1 & 2 advertised, don't exist under the SF number. Other images were used (check SF 8129 and SF 8151.
phew!
