Prince - Lovesexy
Lovesexy is the tenth full-length studio album by Prince. It was released worldwide in May 1988, As an artistic statement, the initial CD release of the album was not split into tracks, but was instead tracked as one single 45:07 track, designed to be listened to as a whole (track titles were included, however). Later releases of the CD split the album into the nine named tracks, however.

From Princevault

So the question is should the single track version of the Lovesexy CD just be noted or have it's own listing?

Prince - Originals
1) This song was intended to be performed by Vanity 6 on the second album and it is thought may have even been sung by Vanity (Denise Williams) in 1983. However, due to personal conflicts with Prince would quit and go her own way.
2) Jesse Johnson wrote the early version of this song Morris Day and Prince would add to ithe song. It was intended to be used in Purple Rain-The Movie soundtrack that was abandoned, later it was used on The Time on Ice Cream Castles.
3) This song was intended to be done as a duet Prince & Apollonia for Apollonia, but for reasons unknown the song was pulled from the album before it's release. It's believe that Prince and Susanna Hoffs met at Sunset while both Prince and the Bangles were recording a track for the Goonies-Movies in April, 1985. During that meet Hoffs ask Prince if he had any songs that The Bangles could play. He offered this track and "Jealous Girl" the later was rejected. Prince is uncredited on the Bangle release as a musician playing several instruments and writing credits list as Christopher after his character from the movie Under A Cherry Moon.
4) A collaboration with Shelia E & Prince and was the only song Shelia had any writing input on the album The Glamorous Life.
5) This song was actually intended for The Hookers, Jamie Shoop,.Loreen Moonsie & her sister Susan Moonsie. However, before the album was completed the Controversy Tour started and Jamie & Loreen quite. At about the same time Prince meets Denise Williams (Vanity) and catches his head of the ward-robe, Brenda Bennett, singing and suggest she join the group. Denise would balk at the group name "The Hookers" and the stage name Prince wanted to use "Vagina". Prince concedes and the group name to become Vanity 6 and Denise as Vanity with Brenda and Susan.
6) This song was intended to replace the song Susannah's Pajamas that had already given to the band when Prince decided it was better suited for The Family album.
7) This song was recorded in 1982 with no intention to use and was abandon. In 1984 it was to be used by the Family but once again abandon. in 1986 Clare Fisher would add orchestral overdubs, yet again abandon. In 1987 offered to Kenny Rogers under the pseudonym, Joey Coco.
8) The title may come from The Flintstones cartoon series referring to Hollywood. This song morphed from the song Feline which was intended to be used by The Family.
9) Inspired by Jill Jones after Prince caught her snooping through his diary in 1982 but was abandoned. It was resurrected for her first Paisley Park release five years later.
10) This song was intended for Apollonia 6 but shortly after Prince wrote this song he met Sheila E. and gave the song for that album.
11) This song was used as intended.
12) This song was co-written by Martika and Prince. She was so happy with the results request additional four songs.
13) This song was used as intended.
14) This is the oldest song on the album being first recorded in 1976 at the Anderson House (Andre Cymone home) in Minneapolis before his WB contract. Twice In 1978 a new version was recorded with a later version with Sue Ann Carwell neither were ever release. Again in June 1981 is the version used on the album. Then in 1986 it was intended for use by Michael Jackson after Prince rejected Quincy Jones request to duet with Michael on the track "Bad". It is not known if Michael ever recorded a version of this song. Prince then summitted the song to Taja in 1987.
15&16) This song was inspired by Sandy Scipioni Prince's personal assistant who had to leave due to her fathers sudden death and was intended for The Family. The base recording (V1,July 15,1984) was overdubbed with Eric Leeds on saxophone (V2[15]July 18, 1984) and later with St. Paul Peterson lead vocal (The Family version, late 1984). Then Clare Fischer added the orchestral overdubs (V3[16], between late 1984 to early 1985). In the 1991 Miles Davis, the jazz trumpet player, requested an instrumental to play a trumpet over. So Prince recorded another version (V4) was recorded and that was shelved because Prince decided the idea was to "corny", After Sinead O'Conner's hit of the song Prince would record and release a live version in 1993 with Rosie Gaines.

Review
This Special Record Store Day Reissue has the Rare Prince Extended Version of Pop Life. It is not a dance remix, it is true to the original, containing additional lyrics not use on the original album version. Paisley Park Remix is exclusive to this album as well and also contains additional lyrics not use on the album version. These tracks alone is worth the price of admission. Even with all the previously released songs, how can you go wrong?
