Harry Fryer And His Orchestra @ South Parade Pier
Petula was only 10 years old at this engagement .Harry Fryer had given Petula her first “professional “appearance in Bentalls Kingston escalator hall where his orchestra would play and she sang for him there for a week around 1940..paid with toffees and a wrist watch ! That was before her first radio appearance for the BBC Empire Service in October 1942

Petula Clark @ Grand Theatre
Quote “My father Harry Allchin was the general manager of the Grand theatre in the years just after the war. We then lived in Powis Square and every Sunday morning we would walk down to watch the rehearsals for the coming weeks show. Little did we know then that some of the young people appearing would become international mega stars! Petula Clark was a huge favourite of mine when she was just into her teens. “

Petula Clark - Portrait In Musik
Very sloppy work by Vogue to have the Italian version of Downtown Ciao Ciao listed on the front and back cover but on the label and when played find it’s Petite Fleur by Bechet correctly labelled on the German pressing which has a different sleeve .Perhaps Vogue France had intended to change the selection and then forgot to do it?
This record being a selection of the Guild Internationale du Disque must have confused the judges !!

Kathy Kirby - More Rarities And Lipgloss!
Kathy’s material was a rather mixed bag guided by her far older manager and lover bandleader Bert Ambrose who chose far too many old songs for her .To think he turned down “You're my world” later a number 1 for Cilla Black
The way of love is perhaps her best recording but totally ignored in the UK . It made the lower reaches of the Billboard American top 100 and easy listening top 40..who knows how her fortunes might have changed if Ambrose had let her promote it properly there .

Kathy Kirby - The Best Of The EMI Years
By the time of these recordings despite Kathy being vocally at her peak she wasn’t getting much airplay on radio ...even I in my late teens lost track of her in those pre internet days as she was rarely mentioned in the pop press by 1967 and her last big success having been the Song for. Europe EP in early 1965 .

Petula Clark - Petula Clark
This is the legendary LP Petula fans were talking about because despite listing the French composers of Pienso en ti it was the English version “I think of you” and Una Vida de amor was the English version “ Life time of love” which remained unreleased elsewhere until decades later when released on cd .
