Neil Forbes 23rd Oct 2015 | | TVNot The Nine O'Clock News (1979 - 1982) | RC: "And she's a kiwi" Huh! What....? I always believed her to be Aussie, even right back to when she played opposite Rod Mullinar in the short-lived detective series Ryan which seems to have disappeared without a trace. Stevenson played the part of Ryan's secretary.

Neil Forbes 23rd Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumJackson 5 - ABC | @Jasper, they could afford to "splurge" so they made 'em thick back then!
Neil Forbes 22nd Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumTraveling Wilburys - Volume One | When I first bought a CD player, one of the first CDs I bought to play on it was this album.
Neil Forbes 22nd Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumNeil Diamond - Hot August Night | RC, Are all three copies Australian issue or is one of them, perhaps of overseas origin?
Neil Forbes 21st Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumNeil Diamond - Double Gold | C4, "Love To Dance" is the only track I'm missing from this set. I've got all the other tracks spread across three or four other EMI-issued labels, Axis, Stateside or EMI-International.
Neil Forbes 21st Oct 2015 | | CinemaThe Spider Woman (Sherlock Holmes And The Spider Woman) (1944) | @Monolith, it's titles like this that play right in to my "dry" sense of humour... How dry? As dry as the Simpson Desert in "outback" Australia!
Neil Forbes 21st Oct 2015 | | CD AlbumRussell Morris - Retrospective | A pick of the tracks for me is "Boom Town" I have an earlier CD issue of this LP, once had the LP but gave it away when I got the CD.
Neil Forbes 21st Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumNeil Diamond - Gold | Interesting... This US issue has what appears to be a gold border round the front cover. This does not appear on the Australian issue, or subsequent reissues.
Neil Forbes 20th Oct 2015 | | CinemaThe Spider Woman (Sherlock Holmes And The Spider Woman) (1944) | Er... would that be a "black widow" perchance? How far can we "spin" this one out? Ay, RC!
Neil Forbes 20th Oct 2015 | | CinemaThe Spider Woman (Sherlock Holmes And The Spider Woman) (1944) | Oh, look! Here's someone else with her own "website"! ha-ha.
Neil Forbes 20th Oct 2015 | | CinemaFrancis In The Haunted House (1956) | Twistin! Down the road from where I live is the city of Newcastle(on Hunter, not Tyne). When Americans visit, they pronounce the name with the 'a' taking the same sound as in "plank", If I correct them and they subsequently pronounce it as I prompt them, I acknowledge it by saying "Thahnk" you(the 'a' as in "car"), thus sending myself up! All for a laff - er... laugh!
Neil Forbes 20th Oct 2015 | | TVRandall And Hopkirk (Deceased) (1969 - 1970) | Now, now RC, are you trying to "buck" the system? ha-ha.
Neil Forbes 20th Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumCreedence Clearwater Revival - Chronicle | PhilMH, I stand(or sit) corrected! the Grapevine track IS the single edit! But what I forgot about, and was reminded of just now as I looked at my copy, it's coupled for auto-changer turntables(Side 1/Side 4, then Side 2/Side 3). And now I remember, the full version of Grapevine was on an album called Creedence Gold. And RC, the CD would be a single disc as the capacity of that format could easily handle the entire content of this album, whereas the vinyl LP was restricted to 30 minutes a side(at a pinch, 33 minutes).
Neil Forbes 20th Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumCreedence Clearwater Revival - Chronicle | My copy is definitely a 2LP set! Issued in 1976 as L-70057/8 by Festival in Australia. This gets me back to the argument(probably dealt with in the Forums) about 2LP album catalogue numbers. If it takes 2 discs to store the content of one album, then the same catalogue number should apply to both discs and only the matrix numbers should(mostly) be sequential.
Thus, Chronicle should've been L-70057 OR L-70058, but certainly NOT L-70057/8.
Neil Forbes 20th Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumCreedence Clearwater Revival - Chronicle | Aha! RC! True confessions of a former community radio presenter! So THAT'S why you played this track! How'd I find out? "I Heard It Through The Grapevine", of course! Ha-ha
Neil Forbes 20th Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumCrosby, Stills, Nash And Young - Déjà Vu | Do you get a strange feeling like you've seen this somewhere before? Ha-ha!
Neil Forbes 20th Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - 22 Explosive Hits Volume Two | DOH!!!....Nuts! - Doughnuts! LOL
Neil Forbes 20th Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumCreedence Clearwater Revival - Chronicle | This LP showed up in Australia when Fantasy was distributed by Festival. It carried the full 11-odd minute version of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine".
Neil Forbes 20th Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - 22 Explosive Hits Volume Two | RC, you're fine but your keyboard can't count. There were 22 tracks!(gotta be a catch there! Catch-22, get it? ha-ha)
Neil Forbes 20th Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - 22 Explosive Hits Volume Two | The newest cuts on this LP date from 1972 so, by default, that's the issue year of this LP.
Neil Forbes 20th Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - 22 Explosive Hits Volume Two | And how many of the songs on this album are present in their entirety? Probably none of them!
Neil Forbes 19th Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumLee Dorsey - Night People | When exactly did Lee Dorsey pass away(I know he died of emphysema, a lung disease) but I cannot remember when. Was it late 1970s or early 1980s?
Neil Forbes 19th Oct 2015 | | TVRandall And Hopkirk (Deceased) (1969 - 1970) | RC, please try to catch up! We've been decimalised since 14th February, 1966, So I can't be sent to the "Pound" It'd have to be the Dollar!" ha-ha!
Neil Forbes 18th Oct 2015 | | TVRandall And Hopkirk (Deceased) (1969 - 1970) | Henry29: What about Me. I have to watch In 4.3 as If I stretch It out It would look Horrible. As I have a 21:9 TV Er... you got problems! ha-ha!
Neil Forbes 18th Oct 2015 | | TVRandall And Hopkirk (Deceased) (1969 - 1970) | RC: I'm watching prisoner right now 4:3 format converted to wide screen
Geez! Bea Smith would look like she was gorging herself from the Wentworth kitchen larder! ha-ha....*Roley Poley, ba-ba-ba-bom....!(*part of chorus from song by Stanford Bridge).
Neil Forbes 17th Oct 2015 | | TVRandall And Hopkirk (Deceased) (1969 - 1970) | I've seen 4:3 when it's stretched out to 16:9, not a pretty sight... Hey, fatso!(not referring to you, directly, RC, just characters who've been "stretched sideways on screen).
Neil Forbes 17th Oct 2015 | | TVRandall And Hopkirk (Deceased) (1969 - 1970) | RC: "Well some old are 4:3 but I have a feature on my television that make it into wide screen"
....At the expense of making Pratt, Cope and Andre look like they've been on an eating binge, "pigging out!"
Neil Forbes 17th Oct 2015 | | 78 RPMLonnie Donegan And His Skiffle Group - Cumberland Gap / Love Is Strange | Just how "strange" is "love" that so many versions have emerged of this song, ay? Donegan must've heard the Mickey & Sylvia version and it prompted him to record his own skiffle-ised "take" on this song.
Neil Forbes 17th Oct 2015 | | TVRandall And Hopkirk (Deceased) (1969 - 1970) | This show deserves another outing on Aussie TV, even if it is only in 4:3 aspect ratio. Perhaps ABC here could schedule it on a Friday night, gosh, there's precious little else worth watching at the moment, this show would be a great boost to ABC's Friday line-up.
Neil Forbes 16th Oct 2015 | | CinemaThe Ghost And Mrs. Muir (1947) | Yes, RC! It did tend to "haunt" ABC's 6.00pm timeslot in the early 1970s(that's ABC Australia, by the way).
