King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band - Canal Street Blues / Dipper Mouth Blues
Both sides were recorded in Richmond, Indiana - "Canal Street Blues" on 5 April 1923 and "Dipper Mouth Blues" the following day. King Oliver and Louis Armstrong play cornet, and Lil Hardin, who Armstrong would marry the following year, is on piano.
Armstrong re-recorded these two songs for the first two tracks on his 1957 4-LP memoir "Satchmo: A Musical Autobiography".

Paul Robeson - Canoe Song / Love Song
"Canoe Song" was recorded on 14 May 1935 and "Love Song" on 15 April 1935, both in London.
Robeson took the role of Bosambo in "Sanders Of The River" on the understanding that Africans would be portrayed positively. In the last few days of filming and during editing the message of the film changed to being supportive of colonialism, causing Robeson to disown the film.
