(ace books, ace charter, charter ace & charter books, etc.) sbn (& later isbn) publisher identifying number; were it an sbn, this would end in the checksum digit, which is lacking. the second element "78071" is the ace books five-digit catalog number system cat#. the final element is the cover price in cents which was not a defined part of the sbn (& isbn) system, though commonly used in such mmpb number-strings, and later appended to their sbns by merkin publishers, and for a while included in their bar-code numbers immediately after the publisher/distributor identifier, with the actual cat# given in a second, smaller, additional bloc.
