Producer Al 7th Aug 2018 | | 78 RPMPaul Robeson - Rockin' Chair / River Stay 'Way From My Door | I was at a recent lecture at Abbey Road studios, and they revealed that "Rockin' Chair" was the very first recording made at Abbey Road when it opened in 1931. It's generally accepted that Sir Edward Elgar with the London Symphony Orchestra made the first recording, which was filmed for the opening of the studios. But it seems that this Paul Robeson recording was made shortly before the Elgar one.

Producer Al 4th May 2017 | | 12" SingleBananarama - Shy Boy (Extended Version) | Demo A side label now added (B side label is blank). It came in a plain white album inner type sleeve with the same sticker as the A side label. It has the same versions of tracks as the standard 12".

Producer Al 8th Mar 2017 | | 12" SingleGennady Rozhdesventsky - HMV Classics 45rpm Dynamic Sound Series | Hi - this series of 12" 45rpm Classical releases dates from later than 1972. The date on the label is the recording date of the music. (one of the same series on Discogs has a date of 1966 on it)
I remember these in the shops, and I reckon it was around 1980. Unfortunately there are no dates on the sleeves to confirm it.

Producer Al 4th Jun 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Abbey Road | Hi - thanks for the response. The other side of the disc is identical - but says Side 2 - instead of Side 1. As I said the sleeve appears to be like the Dutch one, with the Apple 5C cat no on the spine. So, on reflection it looks like the Dutch edition. I didn't realise that foreign pressings would use the YEX matrix stampers. My question would be then, what is the cat no. of the UK one? If it exists. The entry on this page uses the Dutch cat no. even though the listing is supposedly for the UK edition.
(Mods please move the images to the correct page if it's an import)

Producer Al 4th Jun 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Abbey Road | BTW - this was bought in the UK at the time - but the sleeve appears the same at the Netherlands release. The matrix numbers on the runouts are YEX 749-4 / YEX 750-3. So, does that make it a UK pressing, but the sleeve is Dutch? Any comments welcome.
