Quad5point1 4th Aug 2018		TV Guitar Heroes At The BBC (2008 - 2009)	A celebration of Seventies-era axe-men, acoustic virtuosos and thumping riff merchants, in a compilation of guitar-heavy performances from the BBC TV archives. Guitar gods including Jimi Hendrix, Pete Townshend, Peter Green and Johnny Winter are joined by, among others, flamenco maestro Manitas De Plata, bottleneck bluesman Ry Cooder and straight-up rockers AC/DC and Thin Lizzy. Everything from Fleetwood Mac's ambient masterpiece Albatross to hits like The Jam's In The City and Free's All Right Now feature along with lesser-known gems like Maid in Heaven by Be Bop Deluxe and Nils Lofgren's Keith Don't Go. The tracks were recorded in the heyday of BBC shows such as The Old Grey Whistle Test, Top of the Pops and Rock Goes to College.

Quad5point1 20th Jul 2018		DVD The Winslow Boy [1999] - Columbia TriStar	Rated 9/10 Actor Neil North, who plays the First Lord of the Admiralty in this 1999 version, played Ronnie Winslow in the first film version of The Winslow Boy (1948). Nice touch of continuity. Jeremy Northam who plays Sir Robert Morton is absolutely suberb as is Nigel Hawthorne as Arthur Winslow. I feel the part of of Sir Robert Morton is I'm afraid to say head and shoulders above Robert Donats version in 1948, much more verve and vivacity to the character as oppposed to the original which is far to laid back. I did like Cedric Hardwickes version of Arthur Winslow as it seems more affective than Nigel Hawthornes version, but Hawthornes version is much more how I would imagine that character to be in reality with his obvious affection for his daughter and sons. It's hard to choose which performance is the best but I side with Hawthorne. The only thing I didn't like about the Catherine Winslow character in this movie is quite trivial, but at one point in the film she is wearing sunglasses which look totally anachronistic, they just don't look right. Gemma Jones is absolutely superb in this as she is in everything she does. The one big difference for me was the contrast between Kathleen Harrisons character (Violet) and the new version with Sarah Flinds (Violet). The two are poles apart, Kathleen Harrisons effervescent performance which seemed a tad over the top and Sarah Flinds performance which looks like she's on Valium. They went from one extreme to the other and somewhere in between would have been the way to go. Overall both movies are brilliant and hard to choose one over the other, if you get the chance to see either I Thoroughly recommend you sit down and watch, both are brilliant and worth the watch. 4 people found this review helpful. ✔︎ Helpful Review?

Images 322018 and 322019 appear to be the wrong images for this particular release, they appear to have the Cat# STVCD 172 or STVCD 472, they look to be from a European release with MCPS / BIEM / SDRM on the label wheras the proper discs only have BIEM / MCPS. @Paul-R the Hendrix track appears to be from THIS disc which was recorded at the Royal Albert Hall for the movie "Experience"
