scrough 24th Sep 2022 | | 78 RPMDorsey Brothers And Their Orchestra - Mary Ann / My Melancholy Baby | Sources: A: Okeh 40995. B: Okeh 41032
scrough 24th Sep 2022 | | 78 RPMFeodor Chaliapin - Twofold Litany "Glory To Thee, Oh Lord" / The Creed | DB 1701 was released in September 1932 as part of the British section of the DB International series. But, of course, any HMV branch could choose to add any of this series to their catalogue. Fuller details can be downloaded {here}.
scrough 22nd Sep 2022 | | 78 RPMThe Royal Cremona Orchestra - Give Me A Little Cosy Corner / The Heart Of A Rose | There were no issues in November 1918 (end of WW1?) so this entry and a few subsequent have been changed from Nov to Dec. Also no issues in Jan 1919.
scrough 21st Sep 2022 | | 78 RPMFoster Richardson - Song Of The Bow / Devonshire Cream And Cider | One of the marketing methods was monthly supplements of records, usually new releases but sometimes topical like Christmas, Easter, or a particular celebration event. These were issued by many companies throughout the 78rpm period (see Columbia {here}). This was supplemented by annual catalogues.
scrough 20th Sep 2022 | | 78 RPMFoster Richardson - Song Of The Bow / Devonshire Cream And Cider | Bright green labels in this style suggest that you have a pressing made Oct 1931 or later.
scrough 17th Sep 2022 | | 78 RPMBand Of H.M. Scots Guards - In A Monastery Garden / In A Persian Market | Hate to disagree, but the text after the matrix is 'Characteristic Piece' not Pitch.
scrough 15th Sep 2022 | | 78 RPMRoyal Albert Hall Orchestra - Peer Gynt Suite – Morning | This record was re-coupled with 0718 (Death of Ase) as D-156,and issued in 1920. We also have D-157 on site, which was a re-coupling of 0719 and 0720 (Anitra's Dance/Hall of the Mountain King) by The RAH Orchestra/Landon Ronald.
scrough 15th Sep 2022 | | 78 RPMRoyal Albert Hall Orchestra - Peer Gynt Suite – Morning | The black labels are HMV's cheapest line around this time, with the reds being 'Celebrity' and much more expensive. Many black label single sided were reissued as double sided in the B,C,D and E series starting around 1912 (B,C mostly 'Popular') and after WW1 (D,E more 'Classical'). So perhaps this was one that wasn't re-coupled, or re-coupled later.
scrough 6th Sep 2022 | | 78 RPMPhyllis Robins - It's A Hap-Hap-Happy Day / Goodnight Children Everywhere | @steviebgoode: Matrix numbers are CE-10271-1 (Goodnight ..) and CE-10272-1 (Hap-Hap-Happy), both recorded 5th Jan 1940.
scrough 24th Aug 2022 | | 78 RPMMadame Clara Butt - Abide With Me | The Dame Clara Butt artist entry already links the various titles (Miss,Madame, Dame, etc) into a single listing. Her previous titles (eg Madame) are also available as individual listings, and these refer to the main listing. Perhaps our artist title at the date of recording should be used? One of the mods has already changed this record from Dame to Madame.
scrough 23rd Aug 2022 | | 78 RPMMadame Clara Butt - Abide With Me | @The Vinyl Emporium: Don't confuse the pressing date with the release date. Later pressings would have 'DAME' on the label. Seems like you have an earlier label version - which would have had 'MADAME' so pre 1920? Image promoted

scrough 18th Aug 2022 | | CD AlbumBee Gees - Bee Gees´ 1st | Thanks MM, I've moved the Argentinian booklet images over, and added images from the EU booklet.
The EU booklet is strange. Page 17 says that the LP was first issued in August 1967 on Atco, but that would have been in the USA. However, page 14 confirms that the Polydor issue was made in July. Also, the dates on page 16 and 17 are in the American Month/Day/Year format.

scrough 5th Aug 2022 | | 78 RPMEnrico Caruso - Love Is Mine / Pourquoi? | Xiph has summarised this well. UK HMV continued to release 'Celebrity' records as single sided until 1924, and the face numbers given are the catalogue numbers for these releases. 4-2205 is already on our database, and 7-32012 would have been released sometime during World War 1.

scrough 1st Aug 2022 | | 8-TrackVarious Artists - Juicy Giants | Your lead pic was cropped because one of the other moderators sent it for further editing. Moderators don't usually accept images that show parts of the cassette mechanism, areas of black outside a record label, covers that aren't straight, etc, etc.

scrough 25th Jul 2022 | | 78 RPMAlexander Prince - The Darkies' Holiday / Harry Lauder's Pops | The artist here is Alexander Prince, and this is an 11" disc, released in Oct 1908, with a catalogue number 878. Pathé often released records with details missing. See the Pathé section at the end of this Alexander Prince Discography.
scrough 13th Jul 2022 | | 78 RPMMr. Steve Bartle - Empire March / The Sailor's Hornpipe | The 12" Musogram records have a playing time in excess of 5 minutes for each side. See Mike Thomas's website
scrough 12th Jul 2022 | | 78 RPMMr. Bartle - Blue Bells Of Scotland | @Dean Detroit - Steve Bartle is a completely different person to Alexander Prince. Prince played Duet system concertina, Bartle played English system concertina. This misinformation unfortunately was made in many discographies in the past. I've written the biography for Bartle to explain this.

scrough 3rd Jul 2022 | | 78 RPMChas Peters - Hold Your Hand Out Naughty Boy / You Made Me Love You | Release date was December 1913. Chas Peters is a pseudonym for Jack Charman. Updated.

scrough 6th Jun 2022 | | 78 RPMWilhelm Hesch - Hier irn irdischen Jammertal / Keine Ruh bei Tag und Nacht | Both sides recorded in 1907, exact date unknown, so dated accordingly.
scrough 3rd Jun 2022 | | 78 RPMПетръ Лещенко - Черне Глаэа (Schwarze Augen) / „Станочекъ" Нродная Пъсня | All Columbia and HMV 'foreign' records were available in the UK 'to special order' so that may explain this record.
scrough 2nd Jun 2022 | | 78 RPMOriginal Capitol Orchestra - Felix Kept On Walking / Blue Hoosier Blues | if you look at the earlier and later posts to the one you linked to:
'HMV Dog' (Nipper): June 1920 - June 1924
Z-R filigree quandrants: July 1924 - Nov 1926
Z-R filigree quadrants with speed: May 1926
Z-R filigree without lower quadrants: Sept 1926
'Zonophone' only without 'Record': Dec 1926 to end of label (Dec 1932)
Bright green label:Oct 1931 to end of label.
Double Sided UK Zonophone serial numbers go from 1 to 2999, and then jump to 5000. A serial number in the range 3000 to 4999 indicates an export issue.
scrough 1st Jun 2022 | | CD AlbumBleizi Ruz - Musiques Et Danses De Bretagne | An earlier release with the same catalogue number is titled differently as Coz Liorzou "Klask Ar Plac'h". This is a compilation of two earlier releases from 1984 and 1985, both with 8 tracks on each, so the 15 track listing remains a bit of a mystery as to which track has been omitted.
