sladesounds 6th Sep 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Drifters - The Drifters' Golden Hits | As said the original on 588103 was released in 1968. It was re-issued on this cat# around 1973 (I have changed the date) and re-issued a few times after that. My copy (scans shown) was pressed in Germany (for the UK market) sometime in the 1980s.

Although the album is often referred to as Greatest Hits Deluxe Redux / Ghosts Of Download (the two albums that make up the release) the package was marketed by the issuing company Noble ID as Blondie 4(0) Ever. Cover sticker showing correct album title in amongst the scans.
The release was a limited release available only via on-line stores.
Track listing for the DVD can be found here.

sladesounds 9th Jul 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumPete Rugolo - The Sweet Ride | ReviewTo give you an idea of the music on here let me show you the notes on the back of the cover -
"This is a wild trip into the world of the Now Generation... from the neon haunts of Vegas, the velvets traps of Hollywood to the Malibu beach parties. Here are the people trying to make the Sweet Ride, that one moment when you know you're on top and your the best there is at sex, surfing or cycling. Add half a dozen beautiful girls to the scene and you get explosive right-now action-packed drama".
The italics and bold type are my additions but if you haven't guessed already the album is ... a cheesy low grade sound which, having looked at the clips available on youtube, reflects the film. Star of the show is the Dusty track.
For compulsive collectors (like me!) only.

sladesounds 3rd Jul 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - B.E.F. Presents Music Of Quality And Distinction Volume One | ReviewB.E.F. (British Electric Foundation) were Martin Ware and Ian Craig Marsh formerly of The Human League and later Heaven 17.
This album featured, as well as Glenn Gregory (BEFs vocalist), several artists providing vocals to classic pop/rock songs backed with synthesisers and drum machines.
Most noted is the contribution from Tina Turner. Whilst the song is not one of my favourite Motown tracks she herself sounds great and provides a great version. Following this album her label (Capitol) got behind her and her next single "Let's Stay Together" (produced by Martin Ware) was heavily promoted resulting a career reboot (at the grand old age of 43).
Billy MacKenzie is a like or loath vocalist but provides (in my opinion) two good vocal tracks. The late Paula Yates' contribution is a bubblegum squeaky pop vocal version that is quiet annoying whilst Paul Jones (as expected) pumps out a great version of the Motown classic.
Glenn Gregory is a fine vocalist and the cover of Lou Reed's Perfect Day is very good.

sladesounds 2nd Jul 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumJack White - Acoustic Tour 2015 Box Set | In 2015 Jack White embarked on an unusual, acoustic tour. Hitting the only five states in the US in which he had yet to perform — the wild environs of North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho and Alaska — White and his acoustic ensemble of Dominic Davis, Fats Kaplin and Lillie Mae Rische delivered jaw-dropping performances to the previously JW deprived terrritories.
Each show was announced only hours before curtains lifted and tickets were only available in the venue box office, 1 per person, for $3. "No tradesies." Rampant online speculation, guesstimation and divining ensued, and those who were lucky and/or cunning enough to secure a seat were admired by all.
The shows had several standards and rules set ahead of time by White: no amplifiers, only ribbon microphones used, and no monitors on stage.
