The New Century Orchestra - Menace / City Desk
"City Desk" is perhaps most famous, in terms of use, for an about 2-second loop (between around 0:34 and 0:36) being used from the early 1960's to 1968-69 by CBS News for their hourly network radio newscasts.

Sweet - Desolation Boulevard
The UK single version - also released in the U.S. - in on this U.S. album, completely different from what was on the UK album of this.

Elvis Presley - Elvis
This (and other compilations in other countries) came about as a direct result of Col. Tom Parker's sale of Elvis' masters from 1956-1972 to RCA itself, thus depriving "The King" of future royalties from his earlier hits; it is said the sales from this, while his newer material was dying on the charts, essentially killed his recording career in terms of making new music, with only three or four studio sessions (including at the "Jungle Room" at Graceland which was not exactly built to suit the kind of professional standards associated with actual recording studios) over the remainder of his life.

That factor is EXACTLY why I don't try to quote a price on any records.

Paul Desmond - Paul Desmond and Friends
{Images #3408960 & 3408961} is an anomaly - a Columbia Bridgeport pressing with their patented label fonts (that would later migrate to Pitman after the Bridgeport plant closed in '64).

John Kay - My Sportin' Life
One key variant is, at this point, not on here: Pitman's. The other site has accounted for it, though. (And generally more put together in its layout than the Santa Maria {Images #1143119 & 1143120}.)

The version of "Sex Machine" on this record is also entirely different from the two-part single version.

Percy Faith And His Orchestra - Tara's Theme From Gone With The Wind And Other Themes
Both variants (the non-CBS {Images #543154 & 543155} and the CBS {Images #3403807 & 3403808}) are Terre Haute; here is how Bridgeport's typesetting layout (used both on their and Pitman's pressings) would have looked like. (That was non-CBS, B.T.W.)

Ralph Crane - Away For Rio / Blow The Man Down
Begs the question as to the diameter of the A side {Image #3402629} center label and pressing ring, compared to the B side {Image #3402630}.

Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra - Afternoon Of A Faun
By any label name, this was taken out of the catalogue once Stokowski and the Philadelphia Orchestra recorded a newer version in late 1940 for 1941 release (Victor Red Seal / RCA Victor Red Seal 17700).

John Stewart - Bombs Away Dream Babies
The album's title came from a phrase his Kingston Trio predecessor, Dave Guard, used in lieu of a countdown to a song's beginning.

Incidentally, Guard and his daughter Catherine were among the backing vocalists on "Comin' Out Of Nowhere."

Johnny Mathis - Love Is Blue
Terre Haute's {Images #2360511 & 2360512} layout is amateur hour. A shame someone didn't bring the Pitman variant to the fore here. Even Terre Haute must've thought so, as later copies they turned out used the Pitman type.

Oh, and there was also a mono ish' of this as CL 2837 (XLP 136050 / XLP 136051).

Anita Harris - Just Loving You
Something tells me that had this had a U.S. release (Columbia in the States issued the title track and "Anniversary Waltz" as singles), there would've been some futzing with the tracks and their order. Putting in a few (such as "Butterfly With Coloured Wings"; with A4 retitled "Comes The Night (Carol's Theme)") and taking some out (namely that Beatles' medley).

May've had a cat. # like CS 9615, who knows.

Just a question: Do you have an HP ScanJet? I've used that for my scans for the last 20 years . . .

I ask because of the colorimetry of {Images #3397385 & 3397387} - a Columbia Bridgeport pressing, by the label type.

Sir Thomas Beecham And Royal Philharmonic Orch. - On Hearing The First Cuckoo In Spring
Wonder what the label diameter would be - 3.5"? And the inner and outer dimensions of the deep groove; I actually saw such a larger deep groove on another post-1931 Columbia 78 pressing way back when.

Various Artists - The History Of Rhythm & Blues Vol. 6: On Broadway 1963-64
{Images #3397332 & 3397333} is an RCA Record Club edition pressing from Indianapolis. Original pressings presumably would've had the green and blue color scheme (and 'STEREO' in white-type Clarendon Medium near the top). As on here. Or, more to the point, here.
