The Kentucky Minstrels - Christopher Robin Is Saying His Prayers / The Better Land (1942)
This 78 is the last in the series of HMV recordings by the Kentucky Minstrels in the 1930's and 40s.

Steve Race And His Tic-Tac Men - Glendora / Wedding Bells (1956)
There were a total of 19 issues in the BM series recorded in England for the UK market.
This one appears to be the only one also issued in Germany - Polydor 22823

The Supersonics - Cherokee / Linger Awhile (1954)
This issue comes from US Rainbow records and was titled "New Cherokee Boogie" and by the Super-Sonics (with hyphen).

I suspect UK London felt the need to revert to the original and proper title of "Cherokee" for copyright reasons.

Jackie Davis Trio - They Can't Take That Away From Me / Autumn In New York (1954)
According to the RIS London catalogue the sides should be reversed despite the matrix numbers.

The Gershwin tune is much more accessible and enjoyable to the general listener and I think UK London made the right decision.

"Autumn In New York" is very much an acquired taste.
[Sides have been switched. Mod]

Johnny Dee - Sittin' In The Balcony / A-Plus Love (1957)
Silly label error with the B side title which should be "A-Plus In Love"

Don And Lou Robertson - Gamblin' Fever / On The Hudson Day Line (1949)

Gale Warning - Met Rock / Heartbreak Hotel (1956)
This was actress/singer Frances Day recording under a jokey name to match the shipping areas listed in Met Rock for Nixa and famously engineered by Joe Meek.

Carl Brisson - Let Me Hold Your Hand, Dear / When The Love Bird Leaves The Nest (1927)
I bet Bamboo's Zonophone 78 doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the version uploaded. For 1927 the quality is outstanding.

[no artist listed] - ?
It seems that this song is My Name Is Written Down by Rosie Hibler from a 1951 Folkways recording.

YouTube clearly gives all this together with the more listenable version.

This record was engineered by Joe Meek and is quite a rare find.

Gerard Calvi - Sur La Plage (On The Beach) / Vacances (Holiday Time) (1958)
Interesting to note that Benny Hill chose Sur la Plage as one of his Desert Island Discs in 1959.
It has a comedic edge to it with male & female sighs during the record which did nothing but ruin an otherwise pleasant tune.

Al Morgan - Always / Memories (1951)
London Cat # 880 was not issued in the UK so this is a mystery entry. If we could have some scans from contributor that might help.

The Platters - The Great Pretender / Only You (And You Alone) (1956)
The vinyl 78s were designed for standard 78 playing so no change of stylus was needed. You had the best of both worlds - loud 78 format and unlike the shellac, a non-scratchy surface.
Your 45/33 stylus would be probably be wrecked by using in a 78 groove.

Soloist And Members Of The Chorus And State Opera Orchestra - Lohengrin Part V / Lohengrin Part VI
I think you will find that this 12" is a German issue as there are others with this catalogue No. sequence to confirm this.

The Super-Sonics - New Guitar Boogie Shuffle / Sheik Of Araby (1953)
This 78 was issued on UK London as Supersonics. It is guitarist Billy Mure who went on to record many records in the 50s using the word Super-sonic to describe his dynamic playing style which was brilliant and certainly a rival to Les Paul with his inventiveness.

He is fairly easy to research.

This a well known 78 engineered by Joe Meek. It's a good example of his genius in the world of big band recording.

The Four Knights - I Love The Sunshine Of Your Smile / Walkin' And Whistlin' Blues (1951)
I've always liked this track too with its echo and sound effects. I reckon even Joe Meek would have been proud of this.
