Bob Mosley - Apollo Presents Bob Mosley Boogie Woogie (1946)
I have to say, it doesn't matter one whit to me whether the term was in use at the time of release. It is far more germane how it is used today! To call it "Jazz" is to misdirect the modern purveyor of the music in a direction away from the actual style of the music, which is detrimental to the usage of the site by today's interested parties.

Hank Dalton And The Brakemen - Hummingbird Special / Little Girl, You're Mean To Me (1950)
Both Wayne Raney and The Delmore Bothers were under contract to King at the time of this release. Likely why pseudonyms were used.

Ray Charles - Hallelujah I Love Her So / Devil Or Angel
I don't know for certain, dewey70, but most turntables capable of playing 78's are fitted with a cartridge which will accept a 78 stylus, and it would be a bit awry for Rhino to issue special "jukebox" 78's that wouldn't be playable on a 78 jukebox.

Jesse Belvin - Dream Girl / Hang Your Tears Out To Dry (1952)
Note this record, by record number, should have come out in 1950. However, it was definitely on the local charts in December of 1952 as noted in Cash Box. There's a story that Jesse Belvin was unhappy with Art Rupe and Specialty over "Dream Girl" which he had previously recorded with Marvin Phillips. The following is from Steve Propes' "L.A. R&B Vocal Groups, 1945-1965"
Quote:
From the Specialty files [for "Dream Girl"] comes this notation: "He didn't want to get tied up. Got salty when we didn't release 'Dream Girl'; went to Dolphin's and re-recorded it.":

Jim Dawson puts the recording date as 1951. So perhaps one of two things - either it went down as Art Rupe said, or - Dolphin had previously recorded the sides but also had sat on them and Belvin convinced him to put it out.

But why the very out-of-sequence record number? Knowing how John Dolphin operated, he might have been leery that Art Rupe actually had Belvin under contract, so perhaps he wanted to claim it was an old recording... At any rate, the record did make the local Cash Box territorial charts in December of 1952 no matter when it was recorded.

The Teen Kings - Trying To Get You / Ooby Dooby (1956)
There are two pressings of the 78. The earliest ones had Roy's name misspelled on the B side, just as on the 45's: "Vocal by Roy Oribson". Added an image of same. Will be adding better images soon of both sides. The A side title on the first press is "Trying To Get You" just the same as it is on the first press 45. Second presses of the 45 are just like the second presses of the 78, with a corrected A side title and a corrected B side credit to Orbison.

Mad Milo - Elvis For Xmas / Happy New Year (1956)
The sampled songs are from 1956, so it would make sense for this to be a December 1956 effort. Only a few months after "The Flying Saucer"...

5 Crowns - Lullaby Of The Bells / Later Later Baby (1954)
Interestingly, I have found other images of the record, which sold one other time - for the princely sum of $8.29! I kid you not. Those images will be coming shortly (I have to move them to my superior image editor on my inferior old XP machine, but will fix them shortly).
